I have read on the Internet that pinworms are "rarely" seen in the stool.
Some time ago, someone on this forum stated that they defecated onto a piece of newspaper to "observe" their stool, and about 30 seconds later, little white worms started crawling out.
Would this procedure be effective for observing pinworms? I hate to be gross, but I'm wondering if the contractions of the sphincter muscle would not crush the pinworms upon excretion. Or, would the water in the toilet "drown" them so they aren't visible? I hate to just go ahead and use a newspaper... my husband already thinks I'm crazy and I'm sure he'd wonder about a ball of newspaper in the trash can.
