PLEASE (for the sake of your health & body), hold off on the Rx thyroid (toxin) until you've given your body a chance to normalize and you can find out what the issue really is.
'Artificially' altering our body's hormone levels is a sure way to make it VERY difficult to ever find out what the true cause actually is/was.
Your levels of thyroid could test a bit low for a LOT of different reasons; heavy metals; improper/imbalanced nutrition; supplementing with Iodine will cause transient highs/lows until your body is sufficient and stabilized; lack of exercise; and/or your thyroid using the bromine/fluorine instead of the Iodine to 'fuel' the thyroid.
As the bromine/fluorine is pushed out of the thyroid by the iodine, and the Iodine replaces the toxins, it is natural to have fluctuations.
I agree with others; back off the iodine for a little bit and give your body a chance to deal with the toxins it has released. I've had several 2-3 day periods that I was so exhausted it seemed like a major effort to think...let ALONE move my body. That was the bromine.
Do you take any type of a 'superfood' to ensure your body has adequate overall/all-round nutrition? (NOT a multi-vitamin or nutrients that aren't organic & easily assimilated). If you don't, get one and start asap. We simply cannot get all the nutrients we need from our food any longer, and without them our bodies just don't have enough fuel to give us energy...let alone go through detoxification protocols and healing endeavors.
If you don't take some type of a superfood, or understand why it's imperative to your health, PLEASE read the following (short) pages:
I read through a few of your past posts (knowing some are missing). The world of holistic health can be a very scary jungle when first learning how to take control of one's own health. Replenishing your body with iodine without first completely understanding the huge amounts of toxins that are stored in the body (and what it's might feel like when they start coming out), is but one of the frustrating/scary things that can happen. Then going to an MD when you don't really have any idea what might be happening, can get you into a world of hurt...because the MD is going to start putting band-aids all over your symptoms without asking/questioning/knowing what actually CAUSED the symptom. And an MD is certainly NOT going to help you treat the cause - he's only going to do what he knows, and that's cover up the symptom with a medicine or hormone that is toxic and that your body does not need or want.
KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY...and without knowledge you may as well consign yourself to relying upon MD's. :( It sounds to me like it's time to get started on your "knowledge bank"...it's an investment that will you be thrilled to have for the rest of your life.
(Please forgive me if I've 'misinterpreted' your level of knowledge; I find it better to err on the side of making sure people know the basics, rather than to assume that they already do).
The site below my sign off (and it's mission statement) is far & away your best starting point.
Hang in there while you get some information together. Read EVERYTHING you can get your eyes on about iodine & thyroid; here's a good starting place:
Today the field of alternative medicine is like a wild jungle, full of unsubstantiated claims, junk science, and marketing hype.
This website is dedicated to providing referenced, scientific data on a variety of holistic and alternative medicine topics, focusing on universal principles, sound physiology, and the undiluted healing powers of the body itself.
Healers of the past have already solved most health problems of today. Unfortunately, most of their work died with them. Their voices have been muted by the din of a thousand self-proclaimed experts and Magic Bullet salesmen. This website seeks to draw from the forgotten wisdom of the past, and to honor its simplicity.
Despite what you may hear, our health is deteriorating year by year. The rates of all degenerative diseases in this country are increasing. We have more asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, arthritis, allergies, digestive disorders, and obesity than ever before in history. At the same time we spend more and more money each year for "Health Care." We have more doctors and more drugs than any civilization in history. But it's not working.
What's not working is the underlying idea. If doctors and drugs could give us better health, we'd already be better. That is why the field of holistic and alternative medicine is growing so fast - it's survival.
The healthiest people in human history were groups who were geographically isolated from "civilization." These people had no specialists, no HMOs, no prescription drugs, and no immense hospitals. They were never subverted with the idea that the responsibility for their own health lay outside themselves. Except in the cases of traumatic injury, for most of their lives they looked to the body's inner wisdom, and trusted only that. And it worked - they had beautiful teeth, strong bones, and very little degenerative disease.
Today it's almost as though our ancestors are trying to speak to us. The searching, jumbled mess we find in the field of today's Alternative Medicine has a real, valid, vital, underlying power source: the impulse to give the body time to heal itself, to let it try and put the steps of the healing process together all by itself, without potent, unproven interventions - in short, to listen first to
