mirena "disappeared"

I got the Mirena IUD in November 2006. After doing an ultrasound my doctor had determined that my IUD has "disappeared." After an x-ray and CT scan, they found that the IUD had "slipped out" of my uterus and into my abdomon. It's just floating around in there now. I have to have surgery to remove the IUD through my belly button. Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else? Is there any action I can take against the makers of the Mirena or my doctor? I am a single mother raising my 6-month old daughter on my own and am afraid I will be able to afford all this. Tweet
