Re: Cognitive Babies

The babies would all represent a new idea you have, one which may pertain to a new project or a new concept about someone. They can also represent quite literally the idea of a baby. If the babies you see in your dreams look and act older than you would expect of a baby, they can suggest using a new idea which has been used before, one which should by now be outgrown because it repeats an old pattern of thinking and makes one go in circles, which implies no progress is being made. Since babies cannot speak they give the impression of being mute or dumb – dumb implying also unintelligent. Thus when a baby in a dream is able to speak with intelligible words, it suggests using a new idea that is not without intelligence.

In the scenario you mention, the cliff can suggest a situation in which the outcome is not yet determined and also one in which you may be setting yourself up for a fall. Using a new idea you have, you appear to have set yourself up for a fall (as the baby does fall). Falling would imply failing. In this scene the failing is in relation to some knowledge (falling from a fallen tree). The fallen tree would indicate the failing relates to some knowledge that itself does not stand; it has no validity.

Because the child is unscathed in the fall, it would suggest that the grounds of reasoning being used in your mind support or justify this failing. {As the scenes often seem to involve stressful situations, the new idea might pertain to the subject of stress} Note how the “babies” first mentioned are then referred to as the “child” when it spoke to you. This seems to support the fact that a new idea may be older than it looks; that it has been heard of before, as the term “child” includes children older than a baby. The fact that the child spoke to you, would imply that there may be something to be said for a recent idea. {that is also probably why the child was unhurt in the fall} Speaking to you would also suggest that the recent idea addresses your concerns or needs. However, the thoughts conveyed by the recent idea being used are probably not meant to be recalled or kept in mind. (I do not remember it's words)

As to the role of the child image. I know that many people refer rather lovingly to their “inner child”. We know that a child represents an aspect of oneself – but this is simply an aspect that has not yet obtained adult knowledge. The baby/child is thus a very innocent aspect of oneself. Innocent also carries the meaning of lacking in knowledge, being ignorant. The child image is actually a part of the self that has been left behind. They represent the unintelligence in us that slows down our progress towards an enlightened state of mind. {Enlightenment – light – implies knowledge and intelligence. Think of adults walking with a child.} As such the “inner child” is definitively not going to represent higher – which means the more intelligent – consciousness. The failing relating to some knowledge the given scene refers to may actually refer to your ideas about the (inner)child image.
