You are probably not drinking enough water. It is very common for people who take psyllium to become backed up, especially if you are not drinking enough water. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It sounds like your diet is good. Try increasing your water intake. If you still feel like you are straining, then I would say to lower your dosage of the psyllium. If none of this works and you still feel like you are straining, then I would stop taking psyllium all together.
