I was just thinking about this. I started smoking when I had an overbearing superior. Then to stay awake in college. You are wise in tracking down your "false identity." You are intent on "surviving your comfort zone." And that makes the false ego scream and resist. It feels like suicide, but it's just the fake you.
Plus those nerve endings scream for nicotine. Try adding a little choline (from gently poached egg yolks or lecithing from soy) into the diet, the nutrient released by nicotine. One trick I heard but haven't tried is to make cigarettes taste tasteless by drinking orange juice with a little cream of tartar (from spice section) in it. May the Lord give us back to ourselves, the real self, not that fake ego, and bring us to perfect health as our Great Physician.
