I'm not sure what you mean by safe. Sugar, etc? Well most avoid those nowadays anyway.

Multivitamin that contain lubricants, such as stearates, will be cheaper than those without stearates. If you only absorb 35% (one quoted figure) of the nutrients in a multivitamin with stearates, then you are losing 65% of it. But that doesn't mean you'll absorb 100% of a quality multivitamin that does not contain lubricants, so I'm not sure what is cheaper in the long run.

I use the multivitamin powder from G1 Pro Health (http://www.giprohealth.com/giprochild.html). It is designed to be safe for autistic children, but it works great for adults with GI issues as well. It's $32, so roughly a $1/day - so maybe that's out.
