I now fully understand your predicament.
We are quite lucky here in the UK with our National Health Service, which is complemented by our Private Practice, and where I think the surgery you may need would be either free of charge, or nowhere near the costs you speak of if dealt with privately: $465,000 just has to be extortionate, with no guarantees as to the outcome: a daunting prospect to consider.
After considering your situation, and the possible liability of the consequences of surgery, I agree with Andrews post (Fonty): you would be infinitely better off in achieving the maximum healing from your own body, thru Fasting and (just as importantly) adhering to a Natural Hygienic lifestyle; using the laws of nature via remedial exercise, fresh air, exposure to sunlight, organic foods/juices, and adequate sleep and rest to assist your body to that end.
Only after this, which could take many months to achieve, would I possibly consider surgery myself.
A reputable Neurosurgeon may be hard to find, but probably worth it in the end, if the need arises. Health costs just seem to make health-care so prohibitive where you live.
I am sorry to hear about the experiences of your father, which, justifiably, has caused you to adopt your present stance, but I am sure not everyone undergoes that kind of medical nightmare, and there are probably just as many successes as failures, so it does seem to be rather like a lottery.
It is definitely becoming quite fashionable and trendy to opt-out to another country, and receive the same or better health care at only a fraction of the cost. This could be worth investigating, if only for the tan !!!
Yes I did understand what you meant by other people who needed critical surgery if I didn't explain that very well.
Personally I would do some detective work online, about the type of surgery you may need and the stats of success or failure with possible testimonials from former patients; perhaps one or several of them could highly recommend a neurosurgeon for some point in the future.
In conclusion, I would adhere to what you are doing now.............
Several long fasts, interspersed with proper feeding and living habits over the course of the next 12 months or so (possibly longer) to achieve the max' healing from nature that can be achieved, and then (and only then) consider if surgery is still required.
You may be very pleasantly surprised; as in the words of Paul Bragg "The Miracle of Fasting" is indeed just that.
