Homeopathy does work, but it is very symptom specific, which is one of the reasons I rarely use them. For example you would use different homeopathic remedies for a cold with a wet cough as opposed to a dry cough. With herbs I can use one herb to address the virus as well as many of the symptoms. This is why homeopathic practitioners put you through such as gauntlet of questions before prescribing a particular remedy.
