I remember Andy Cutler said use the ALA, and it doesn't make a difference if you use the R version.
About the slow rlease thing, you have to really trust the company because it's not easy to make the SR.
I personally trust Jarrow Formulas 100%, anyway let us know when you try it :)
I still can't take ALA because it hasn't been 3 months yet.
