Swallowing in pieces is fine. Sometimes I dice it and mix with kefir and tumeric and just spoon it in, like a spicy yogurt. Or I add TONS of garlic to homemade pestos (to put on veggies) and salad dressings. There are people here who are hardcore and just chew on whole cloves and swallow....and get good results. Apparently this will get the ones in the throat and head. Also, try blending a clove in warm water for a garlic enema.
