There is nothing wrong with sugar. The reason it's dangerous is because yeast loves Sugar and uses Sugar to spread throughout. Your body. If you make wine in a barrel and add yeast it doesn't. Do much. But when you add the Sugar the yeast spreads throughout the whole barrel
I cut back on sugar because I have. So much yeast in my body and I feel better and my skin rashes. Gone
