I have a sense that when Burroughs wrote the book The Master Cleanser , based on the results of many, the quality of maple syrup was such that in combination with the lemon juice it did provide enough nutrients and in an alkalizing fashion... remember he also said to always have at least six to ten (or maybe it was twelve) glasses of the drink. That'd be necessary to keep the acid in balance so the body wouldn't have to pull from its reserves, no?

But even better would be The Master Cleanse drink with blackstrap molasses, and I wonder why you'd need more minerals (or alkalizing power) than this combination would provide. And I think if Burroughs had forseen how the nutritional profile of M.S. would deteriorate, as it must have, he'd have pushed the Blackstrap more, and not only for those with blood Sugar disorders. For me, it's completely satisfying, and I now enjoy the drink whenever I might otherwise go for tea. (My favorite drink is plain boiled water)

The only part I've had some trouble with in the Master-Cleanse is the cayenne, which, much as I like it, and have quite a tolerance for it, I believe creates (or maybe causes the body to dump? not sure yet) a lot of acid, leading to the infamous burning, acid discomfort on and around elimination.
