I tried mega dose of vit c back in the late 1970’s. It almost ruined my kidneys. The dose I was taking was one gram every two hours I was awake for a week. I hit my diarrhea limit but pressed on, then continuous gas and I pressed on, then burning painful urine. I had chronic diarrhea for two years. The problem was LOW stomach acid.When I started taking Betaine Hydrochloride it stopped in two days. Relief is very dose related and depends on how much you eat and what you ate. Each person will have to experiment and find the dose that works for them. My dose is 3 or 4 capsules (500mg) per meal. Five is too much as I get constipated. Two capsules won’t stop the diarrhea. See a doctor if you have a ulcer or irritated bowel because the supplimental acid may hurt.
