The black thing sounds like a stone. Did you keep the whitish bits? They might be calcified stones. As far as I can make out, stools float if they contain fat. There’s probably lots about it on the internet. A colander and showerhead seems a good way to pick out stones after a flush but doesn’t reveal whether stones float. I hope you’re feeling better.

You know the quantities of olive oil &c we put away, with energetic complaints? It involves an egg yolk and mustard, not in any recipe, but does anybody think mayonnaise & might work? It would be so much nicer. Just a thought.

Not quite. I think I had a small stone stuck the first time, & now may have another, so will need to flush again. Thanks for the safflower notes. I used half olive oil this time & half safflower, with less nausea & heartburn the next day. It’s not as viscous - is that why? [End]

It just looks like a tunnel at the moment, with a smack on the wrist from my GP and some nasty surgery at the end...but after reading your messages & encouragement, I feel I should give it at least one more go. Yes, I did drink prune juice & eat carrots. On a positive note the coral looked pretty next to my jade green stones - which were softer than the last lot, with a tasteful marbled effect.
I’m a bit worried about undernourishing after all the laxatives & flushing. Multivits? Miso soup is always comforting.

I did a second flush a few days ago & got about 40 stones out, a bit bigger than peas, and some coral-coloured bits of jellified stuff - carrots? coagulated prune juice? It was entertaining but what do I do to get the rush of wellbeing? I feel rubbish two days later - sweating, pain both sides, tired. My doctor just recommends surgery. Should I persist? [End]

My diagnosis is gallstones & I’ve started liver flush. But the sonographer wrote on my form that my right kidney was 7-8cm, ”upper limit of normal”, while the left was 10-11cm. When I asked my doctor about this, she said, ”She probably meant lower limit.” She isn’t at all worried, which is nice. Lower limit still means normal. But I do have some kidney pain & am not peeing very forcefully. The sonograph revealed no stones. Having said that, is this sonographer capable? I know what AmyK means. I think I understand the principle - fasting gives your liver a rest, olive oil gives it a FAT! FAT! FAT! message so it produces bile and the gallbladder goes into overdrive & flushes.
What I wondered is, has it GOT to be olive oil? I had to rush to a supermarket lavatory yesterday because I passed the olive oil section, practically pushing the attendant out of the way - she probably thought I was trying to escape through the window or desperate to take drugs. I was staggered to see so many people sharing their liver flushes.
In January, I didn’t know the practice existed and I thought gallstones were something you got if you ate a lot of fat. At first I thought, these people are crazy - they are making a vicious assault on their digestive system! Then it occurred to me, well, what would you call gallbladder removal?
