Epaderm is a very thick cream used for dry skin, often for eczema and psoriasis. My doctor prescribed it to me many years ago in attempt to help with this condition. It is a LOT thicker than aquapor, so it’s not really meant to replace them as a lip balm. I never used vaseline to invoke a peeling cycle because it just wasn’t good enough at that for me. Regardless of the state of my build up, epaderm before bed guaranteed that the skin would slide off without fuss in the morning. I recommend it if that is what you want. Epaderm is my go-to if I want to force a lip peel. Slather it on before bed, wake up the next morning and the skin slides right off. For a more gradual/gentle lip peeling cycle I stick to aquaphor. Why doesn’t it work well for you anymore? Your mentality is the same as mine has been for a few years. If you just want to go back to your routine, try aquaphor. It’s thicker, and should last longer on your lips before rubbing off. If you want to try something a bit different, try ’Gloves in a bottle’ alongside aquaphor. Take a step back, try not to take it too seriously, and just learn to live with it for a while. You’re not going to cure anything when you’re stressing that much. How I apply to my lips: 1- if you’re starting with build up - get to raw lips however you do (I use epaderm over night and the build up slides straight off, never lets me down). 2- gently pat dry the lips. 3- gently rub in the product to your lips, both inside and out whilst SMILING. @cottonmouth I don’t remove the product unless it comes off naturally when I wet my lips. E.g if I’ve eaten and it simply turns white with contact with the water when I rinse my mouth ill simply clean all the food off mouth and lips and let my lips air dry somewhat, then apply more. I do not stick to the 4 hour rule, those rules were created for hands in mind that probably wouldn’t see as much interference with the product as our lips do. I’ve had to restart a few times now tbh - it’s definitely effective but you need to be so careful. I went out on Tuesday for a xmas party, was drinking a lot from a straw, talking a lot, didn’t have time to apply a lot, and I could tell my growth was ruined the next morning. 10 days is enough to see progress and new skin forming, but definitely not long enough to think the hard bit is over. With a thin layer not really no, but I was going for maximum coverage and protection so I put on several layers throughout the day. One could argue that if you’re just going to put a thin layer on its not going to be any more effective than just using another lip balm. It won’t heal your lips unless they are 100% protected. Yes, it is possible. Far more possible than with aquaphor. Unlike aquaphor which does easily rub off with time, gloves in a bottle doesn’t. It genuinely creates an invisible barrier that hardens up and is waterproof. I’ve been seeing some extremely good results with it and haven’t peeled since I started it 6 days ago, as well as seeing some healthy skin forming underneath the barrier. Hi guys, Just thought I’d update you on the results of some tests I’ve been having for severe stomach pains. It was found that my faecal calprotectin levels were raised to 769 and CRP was 20. I don’t, I never want to go back to the crusts. The only way I know to stop them coming is to be tactical about it. If you leave them alone, the crusts WILL build up. That is a fact. I used to smother them in vaseline in the past and this caused them to peel very easily, so I would tactically do this to prevent build up. You may be able to use coconut oil.. The problem is that it’s not going to be as water resistant as aquaphor, or as thick since coconut oil will melt on your lips pretty fast. But if you could be diligent and constantly apply coconut oil it may work. There’s no way of knowing until you try. I am pretty sure you’d have to apply coconut oil more than you’d apply aquaphor, though. I believe it is quite common for aquaphor to remove the build up. The idea is that you start from fresh, raw lips with no build up and continually keep them covered and moisturised. I am going to retry applying bepanthen but a lot more frequently. QUESTION. Everytime you reapply, do you wash off the old layer of bepanthen? Hi! So glad to hear about your success! Was hoping you could take the time to answer some questions. How soon did you start to see a stop in the peeling? What times did you apply the Advantan? And do you think it was the advantan that cured you? Because I have tried a bepanthen cream before and I saw short term success for a few days but the peeling cycle never stopped. I am particularly interested in whether the peeling will remain stopped after you stop applying the creams. If you could keep updating this thread everyone would appreciate it! Warm regards. I feel its to do with the other half of your lips constantly being moist from being in contact with the inside of your mouth. I have tried various times to dry out my mouth by keeping it open and consistently sucking out all of the saliva from my mouth. In doing this, the whole of my lip appears to heal in one go. The drying out of my mouth/lips is helped by adding a compeed coldsore patch to the triangle of my top lip (a recommended treatment I read on this forum). Due to always having to speak to people and not having a lot of free time, I have never been able to do this treatmen ...
