First, go here http://www.epa.gov/safewater/labs/index.html and find a state certified drinking water testing lab in your area. Then you’ll KNOW what’s in your water and can begin to attempt to remove it. As for water to drink...reverse osmosis is still the best you’re going to get, at least out of a tap. RO removes just about everything. I’ve been using it for over 10 years. My dad, 74 years young, has been using it for over 20 years. Anytime you inject, add, or mix anything with chemically treated, water, your going to get, well, more chemically treated water. And what comes out all depends on what goes in. What I use...andI have extreme sensitivities to chloramines and chlorine in water. From skin allergies to not being able to drink the stuff. My solution is two-fold. For whole house filtration I’ve added a backwashing carbon filter. It’s the size of a water softener, and in fact it’s main component is the mineral tank without the salt reservoir. Well, I can tell you from experience that I ”cured” myself of supposed gallbladder disease. I was not at the point where your wife is, with vomiting and such. But I was experience incapacitating attacks that felt like a heart attack, sometimes lasting for up to 6 hours at a time. Bloating, unable to eat for weeks at a time (liquids only). I like your idea getting the reverse osmosis system. Clean, fresh water is one of the best things you can do for your body, and overall health.
