I’ve used distilled with blackstrap with good results. I would use 2 teaspoons. Only thing is you’ll get a little of the taste in the kefir, which I don’t mind at all. Should be fine in the fridge. I’ve rehydrated in the past and it turned out fine.   [End]

Hi Anne Sorry for delay....haven’t been on CZ much as of late. First thing I did was remove the charcoal filter and threw it in garbage. Everything I read said it was not needed. The distilled water is pure as can be and doesn’t need additional filtering. I never used the cleaner that came with it. Still have it though. I’ve used just a water/vinegar mix to clean and then a good rinse with hot water. I use one of those green scouring pads about every other batch. Smart move on discarding the first batch.
