The IVF doctor wrote in my medical records, the words “Potentially Infectious.” Here’s my doctors’ reasoning for this verbiage:
The Anti-HBc Total positive means that you have had a hepatitis infection before. The Heb B surface antibody means that it is likely a past infection. However, for our IVF purposes, any screening positive test is considered potentially infectitious according to the FDA (medically it is not). However, we have to follow FDA regulations and store embryos and sperm in the cryo tank by a different protocol and we don’t store them here. We ship them to XXX ...
