It went like this...   Not long a go; a friend of the family went to a family reunion down here in Dixie...  His  Dad  invited him to meet out at a distant ( that is one you don't see but ever once in a while) Uncle's house in Standing Rock, Alabama...

He arrived and was welcomed in as one of the nephews... Southern  people are just that way; real friendly... They all sat around and waited for his Dad, Jim Bob to arrive...  Everyone knew Jim Bob...  So They visited and ate Diner then visited and ate Supper...  Well Jim Bob did not arrive; but that was alright, they had him stay over; then they all had a big country breakfast the next morning; and a bunch of the guys took him fishing...  Well his Dad never did show, so he left and went home...

The next day his DAD called and said " where were you??  We did not see you at the  family reunion... "  He said,  " But I was there..."    Then he found out the his Uncle had moved from that house a couple of years ago...  He was at the wrong family reunion...  His Dad called the family that had invited his son in and explained the confusion...  They said it was alright and he could come back anytime...

BTW: He is invited back to fish every year; so that is how we treat people down Dixie; even if they are at the wrong place at the wrong time...

The names have been changed to protect the innocence and any person recognized living or dead is purely coinsinadential...  But Standing rock, AL is a real place!!

Y'all come see us, ya' hear....   See Ya... Kermit

Well come on down as Bob Barker says on the Price is Right...

        You are sure welcome...

We usually have some strangers, at every family get together...   We are too poor to be proud; so we have had every race and many different religious groups eat with us too...  So if you are ever in the neighborhood; just let us know so we can put on some more stuff for you to eat & make sure you have a seat...

Life is good when you don't take time to be judgmental and get your pantie hose all in a wad... You need to let people be, and let GOD sort out the rest...

If you don't know where Standing Rock is let us know and we will have the folks there leave the light on for you...   BTW: We live in Georgia now...

        See Ya... Kermit

Yup, that's how things are. Speaking of family reunions, we had one today. Didn't even know the names of everyone there, but we had a good time.
I have a friend with hardly any family. He is so confused, because our family does things together all the time.
2 weeks ago we went to the mountains and stayed at my dad's cousin's cabin. We went to an outdoors fair and saw another one of their cousins, plus some distant relatives (4th or 5th cousins) that most people probably wouldn't even realize are their relatives. It was like a mini-reunion.
Then last week we had a party for the immediate family (aunts, uncles, cousins) to celebrate 2 people graduating high school. We had dinner and a great time. My aunt brought her friend from another state and we just included her.
So when I told my friend that we'd be having a family reunion today, he was like, "Didn't you just have one of those?" And I was like, No! That was just a get-together. A reunion is bigger, with more distant relatives. He said, "How many?" and we said, oh, probably about 50 people. He said, "Wow! That's a lot!" and we said, "Not really - that's small for us. A lot of people couldn't come." And it's true.

Anyway, yes, in the south, it's a "the more the merrier" mentality. People are always welcomed. We have all kinds of people over, and enjoy the chance to make some new friends! Do you want some butter beans?
