  • Endorphines - #1 Become a Child.   by  freelastchance     18 y     3,175       7 Messages Shown       Blog: Kissing Fatigue Goodbye
Do you remember the days when you were just a young'n and you had big dreams of becoming a Builder or a Fireman? You were going to save the world from the bad guys, you would rescue all the puppies from the dog catcher, you would fly off the barn roof with a pair of wooden wings...Someday... How much peace you had in your carefree life, how much you dreamed. Sadly, you no longer run in the flowery meadows, chase butterflies with a net, play in the backyard sandbox, or pick a single dandelion to give to Mamma. Where did the time go? How did you get so busy? That charming ability to care so much for people without worrying what they thought of you...

You need to heal, and laugh again. You need to trust again. Find a moment today to remember something delightfully funny about your childhood. Share it with someone. Be the child you were at your happiest moments. You will get good endorphines, and start to heal.

I was 3 years old, "Daddy, is that a star?" I asked my Father. "No honey, that is the neighbors yard light" he said. I looked up at Dad "How do you know Daddy?". Dad chuckled "Well, you see, I can see the pole it's on. It's low to the ground, and the light is a different color. See the stars Naomi?" lifting me up high, he pointed way up. "The stars are way up in the sky." I smiled widely thinking to myself Dad must know everything.

Can you feel the moment? Can you trust like you did? You may not have had the childhood I had, but somewhere in your memory box, back when your faith was still pure, you still hoped, and you knew no fear. You must become that child again.

Breath deeply of the beautiful things, for a moment, forget the pain and responsiblities of life. Climb a tree or pick a flower. Take time out, play dolls, skip rocks, build a snowman.

When my mother first began her obvious journey with Alzheimer's, I remember telling her to put herself into my childrens' shoes and appreciate every flower and weed (weed = plant not widely loved) and cloud. It really helped with the early onset of anxiety and depression many Alz sufferers experience. Good to remember - thanks for the post.

Dandelions and Morning Glories. I so remember those two flower/weeds being my favorites. Thank you so much for sharing! I remember as a little girl, my mother took care of an elderly lady for a day who had Alzheimers and she was the sweetest lady. My family played music for her, and she said the same things every few minutes "Are all of these children yours?" "You play and sing so well!" "When I was a little girl I had piano lessons, but they didn't take." and it was so delightful. She was such a lady, and her simple words over and over gave my Mother such a blessing, that we never forgot her.
