I made a little change to my diet today- I've been eating cashews and pecans like they are going out of style. Although I haven't gained any weight, I believe I've been overdoing it, so I'm cutting way down. I like the protein I get from cashews, but I don't like having a lot of high-fat days in a row.

I know I should make another change now that I'm on vacation: I should start getting exercise somehow. Between now and the Fall semester, I could put a serious dent in this excess weight AND get in better shape. I guess that will be my new goal for the summer. I'm not very psyched about working out, but I know it needs to get started. I think that living in the Southwest puts a damper in my enthusiasm for exercising because its so hot, but I'll have to get over that. Sigh....

Yes that means you have to exercise. You have to work it out. We all have to. You don't wanna be a flabby, gaunt looking rawfoodie.

i felt the same way about exercise when i first started and i gotta admit some days i really cant be bothered but everytime i exercise i feel so much better after it. it really helps in so many ways. it is my time to think and feel and take notice. and it is hot here to so i just walk/stroll rather than anything too strenuous if it is really hot. also i try to mix it up so i dotn get bored and ive just added swimming so this has been great on hot hot days. just start out small and work your way up you will feel great. good luck im sure you will find a way to make your goals for summer come true.

Thank you, ausjulie. I hope I get more motivated to exercise over time. I loved working out when I was in shape a few years ago. It was the sense of accomplishment and the joy of being able to be athletic that motivated me (plus my music!). Now, though, I'm so overweight that working out is more depressing than enjoyable. :-(
