- From Eating Too Much to Eating Too Little! by drpr

What a crazy week. Between being stressed out and not having a lot of
food in the house (poor college student, remember?) I've managed to
lose a couple of pounds the hard, unpleasant way. I'd prefer to lose
them without the starvation, thank you. Today I had a little extra cash
and made a miniature salad at Whole Foods. I scarfed that thing down
like a madwoman when I got home. Wow, you never notice how little
energy you have from not eating enough until you get a good meal in
you!
Due to lack of money I've run out of my vitamins. I have dread
nightmares that because I have no more MSM and biotin and haven't been
eating enough, my hair will start falling out again. I know that's not
going to happen - at least, not "just like that,",but I'm still upset
by the situation. I hate having no money! I mentioned that I will be
moving soon. I try to stay optimistic by planning a new healthier
lifestyle after I get settled- like going to the gym more regularly,
going back to shopping for groceries in a more organized way like I
used to, etc. etc. Things are stressful now, but as long as I haven't
rushed out to visit the dollar menu at McDonald's, I guess I'm doing
all right. ;-)
OH- I should mention that Matthew Monarch, who wrote the book Raw Spirt
that I liked so much, was interviewed on Raw Vegan Radio. If you are
interested in hearing the podcast, you can reach it by clicking here.

- want the book? by ren

I have Matt's book. It was okay but I can give it away. Just let me know if you want it. As for not having money, well I don't have any myself now. I've run out of my vitamins too. I'm down to vitamin C. When I get some money, I'm going to go to Walmart because it's what I can afford. Thankfully, my FIL has a big vegetable garden, blueberry bushes and fruit trees. I also eat the weeds too like chicory and dandelion. The grocery stores don't have much in the way of produce but I do buy the organic carrots at Walmart and conventional greens. I buy bulk grains from Whole Foods like oats, couscous, etc.

Thanks for the offer, Ren. I have Matt's book already. It is a good reminder to me that I'm ok even when I'm not perfect. :-) Doesn't completely take away the guilty feelings, but it helps.
And like you, I've been to Wal-mart to stock up on vitamins. I feel guilty about that, too. But they had CHEAP vitamins, like 1.98 for one of the bottles. And their fruit is cheaper, - I'm talking 2.99 for a lb of cherries vs. 6.99 in the grocery stores. Sometimes when you're poor you just can't afford to make a political statement!

Walmart has good vitamin C. I don't know about the coq10 and hair vitamins. I need some hair vitamins but right now I'm eating cucumbers out of my in law's yard. You're right. Sometimes you can't afford to make a political statement. I buy the organic carrots at Walmart and that's pretty much it. I've been eating homegrown vegetables and fruits. My 'political' statement will be growing a sizeable vegetable garden next year spring. I see how easy it is to live off of one's own efforts.
