Truth as found in Dixie! Part 4

** At times we tend to get caught up in the world's stuff and forget where we came from! This has happened to me on several occasions, I must repent and get back on the trail of my Southern Heritage Roots... If you can stick with me through this long series on The Truth; there will be a more complete round up at the end! I promise! **

Either You Live the Truth or - suffer the Consequences of grief and sorrow that follow!

" You can't live a lie and be trusted!" This has been an old Southern Saying which I heard growing up down in south Georgia...

My Mother's mother died when she was 7, so she was raised by an Aunt.. The only Grandmother I got to know was my mother's 2nd Mom - Girty Lee; whom I came to love and respect; learning many truthful lessons of life at her side...

Much of life is either Truth or falsehoods... But what is the truth?

** truth
noun,
1.) the true or actual state of a matter: He tried to find out the truth.
2.) conformity with fact or reality; verity: the truth of a statement.
3.) a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like: mathematical truths.
4.) the state or character of being true.
5.) actuality or actual existence.
=======================================================

The English word truth is derived from Old English tríewþ, Middle English trewþe, cognate to Old High German triuwida, Old Norse tryggð.
Like troth, it is a -th nominalisation of the adjective true (Old English tréowe).
The English word true is from
- Old English (West Saxon) (ge)tríewe, tréowe, cognate to Old Saxon (gi)trûui, Old High German (ga)triuwu (Modern German treu "faithful"), Old Norse tryggr, Gothic triggws, all from a Proto-Germanic *trewwj- "having good faith", perhaps ultimately from PIE *dru- "tree", on the notion of "steadfast as an oak" (e.g., Sanskrit "dru" tree).
Old Norse trú, "faith, word of honour; religious faith, belief"
(archaic English troth "loyalty, honesty, good faith", compare Ásatrú).

Thus, 'truth' involves both the quality of "faithfulness, fidelity, loyalty, sincerity, veracity", and that of "agreement with fact or reality", in Anglo-Saxon expressed by sōþ (Modern English sooth).

** All Germanic languages besides English have introduced a terminological distinction between truth "fidelity" and truth "factuality". To express "factuality", North Germanic opted for nouns derived from sanna "to assert, affirm", while continental West Germanic (German and Dutch) opted for continuations of wâra "faith, trust, pact" (cognate to Slavic věra "(religious) faith", but influenced by Latin verus). Romance languages use terms following the Latin veritas, while the Greek aletheia, Russian pravda and Serbian istina have separate etymological origins.

=====================================================

Therefore we can say that 'truth' involves both the quality of "faithfulness, fidelity, loyalty, sincerity, veracity", and that of "agreement with fact or reality" - Amen!

The most famous and well known phrase on truth is:
" Ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free." John 8:32

These words were spoken by the only perfect man to ever live upon the earth, and the greatest teacher the world has ever known - Joshua, Jesus, or Yeshua Hamashia over 2000 years ago!
This may be up for debate with some doubters, but never the less it is the Absolute Truth!

======================================================

What it comes down to is how you learn to perceive things... Either you seek the truth or choose to follow lies and falsehoods... Most people know when something is the truth or an outright lie! We have all experienced this in our lives at one time or another!

> Now for views on the truth from Dixie:

- You will never find a Bullfrog on top of a mountain, only in the swamp.

- If it walks, like a duck,
Quacks like a duck,
Swims like a duck,
Looks like a duck,
then down South we say it must be a duck!
** but there are those who will argue with you!

===============================================

- Once many years ago when animals could talk; an Indian Brave was hiking on a snow topped mountain, when he came upon a rattlesnake immobilized by the cold.. The snake ask if it could be taken down into the warm valley?
The brave answered " No you will bite me!"
The snake replied " Oh no, I will not!"
So the brave picked up the snake and brought it down to the warm valley where the snake once fully revived, promptly bite him...
The brave responded " But you said you would not bite me!"
The snake replied " You knew what I was before you picked me up!"

A perfect example of knowing the truth, yet ignoring it!

==================================================

The truth is always there, we just have to learn to recognize it! It is a choice of our God given
" Free Agency " yet people will go through life playing games with the truth to suit their fancy - which is to choice whatever suits them at the time!

But playing with your life is like playing with a Rattlesnake - you should only trust the Truth!

Stop bak as we pursue the Truth!
