End of the Appalachian Trail, folks... It was hard but worth it!! What did we see, well more than we expected, but not as much as you would think... So read up on our actives and see for your self, friend.... The AT as it is called, was and is set up for many reasons.... We will discuss some of those.... The AT was conceived by Benton MacKay; forester, philosopher, and dreamer... It stretches from Georgia in the south over 2000 miles to Maine in the north... It is a footpath along the crest and ridges of the Appalachian Mt. chain... It is maintained by volunteer hiking clubs, with support from the US forest Service and Natl Park Service; all coordinated through the independent Appalachian Trail Conference..... {This people doing something for others and their country... volunteers.. key word folks..} A brief description by Harold Allen; dated 1976 describes the AT as: "Remote for detachment, Narrow for the chosen company, Winding for the leisure, Lonely for contemplation.. It beckons not merely north and south, but upward to the body, mind, and soul of man..." There are correction factors in this life... There are times and places where most all of the wonderful stuff we hold so dear; is of no importance.... Not even available or necessary... Such was our time on the AT; and all that mattered was the essence of life... Gone were the daily interruptions and other bothers of life... It was a time of reflection and soul searching... This is the core of life, folks... There was not any; TV, radios, electricity, AC, hot showers, dishes, or other household noise... Only the sounds of nature... This was a unique time... One adventure that everyone should have in their life; an opportunity to experience the true oneness with GOD in the infinite world of nature... It is times like this that you (we) can truly search your heart for the REAL MEANING(S) in your (our) lives.... Here you can really reach out and touch GOD; through HIS creation(s).... We were able to complete a part of the Georgia section; from Woody Gap down to the Approach Trail head at Amicalola Falls State park, Approx. thirty miles, in three days.... Besides the scenery there were many interesting people we met on the trek... We will discuss some, " Trail Magic" too.... See " My Road of Life" blog for more details...
