Hi everyone,
I really need help with a toe nail fungus problem. I have had severe toe nail fungus for about 8 years now. It began when I started wearing 2 pairs of socks in the cold winter months many years ago. I was too young to realise that this would be the result of such actions. I have several questions not only about what I need to do to cure the problem, but also about the actual infection.
1) Can toe nail fungal infections cause other problems with ones body or is it limited to the toe nails ?
2) Is the fungus actually IN ones blood ??? Thus can the fungus cause skin problems such as cystic lessions within the skin or is this not possible ?
I have heard of Lamisil tablets and am aware that they are quite harmful. I dont think I can take them as I am currently taking Isotretinoin which known to be harmful to the liver, so both togeather isnt going to happen.
When clipping my toe nails I wear dispossible gloves.
I would be very dedicated in clearing the problem with continuous treatment such as vinegar, ACV, Vicks rub etc..... Which ever someone can recommend.
Does continuous topical treatment kill the fungus in the nail bed or is it still living in the blood ????

This is a reply to # 1,030,572Strangely enough, some do recommend Vicks rub; certainly worth a try. Also you might consider an anti-fungal natural supplement like olive leaf - it's anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, etc.
My theory is that fungals like candida can cause acne, so I wonder if this is the cause of yours? I've taken accutane 3-4 x, which didn't work and can adversely affect many parts of our bodies, most notably it can cause the brain to stop making seratonin - the brain chemical that makes you feel good. Hence, the suicides attributed to accutane. If you feel the least bit depressed -before or after accutane - get help!
In the meantime, I can't help but wonder - based on my own experience - that your Acne may be a by-product of the fungi. Good luck.- Re: I REALLY need help with toe nail... MML

I doubt it was a contributing factor although it was the cause of much distress when I thought about it as in the past I would clip my fungal nails.... with my bare hands and touch other things before washing because I didnt see the 'possible' harm.
I am now much more careful and use gloves as previously noted.
I do not think my Acne was linked to the fungus. My skin produced a lot of oil, especially when stressed and was effected by diet to quite a degree. After 2 weeks of Accutane my skin was dramatically improved... now at 6 months its perfect. I can ONLY attribute this to the Isotretinoin therapy.
I asked 2 dermatologists if the fungal nail infection might be a contributor and they both laughed, I didnt see the funny side however. I dont think its likely but not a laughable suggestion in my opinion.
Anyways, I seriously hope it isnt linked. If it is then I am going to have to take Lamisil tablets to kill the fungus as topical treatments wont work quick enough.
My skin was very very oily, it doesnt take an expert to work out that this can cause Acne under the right circumstances. Oily skin alone does not cause acne, its evolutionary that man has oily skin based on their environment. In countries such as Italy and Greece its common for people to have oily skin yet no acne.
What happend with the ending of each of your Accutane courses ???? Did the oil return or was excess oil not an obvious cause ???

This is a reply to # 1,030,742You might want to ask this question about nail fungus in the "ask curezone" support forum - you might get a better response. I certainly am not promoting accutane, because this is an alternative health forum, but it is the only substance that consistently will clear up acne. Acne can be caused by numerous things but accutane will clear up Acne in 95% of sufferers. The only thing is that it does nothing to get to the root cause. In many cases the Acne will return after you go off of it. I have done several courses of it and it cleared it up each time, one time for several years. It definitely dries out your skin.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,030,742If accutane cured acne, I wouldn't still have Acne after 40 years and 4 courses of the stuff in apr. 7 years. After each course, the oil soon returned and also the acne. Sure it was great having dry, clear skin for the first time since adolescence, but it didn't last for long and the side effects are powerful. I wouldn't do it again if I knew then what I know now. But obviously I know the desperation and was a big advocate at the time...just be aware and watch for Depression which can be very insidious.
I'd consider a natural method for your fungus...as with accutane, many drugs only work for a short time while wreaking havoc on the body.

This is a reply to # 1,030,572I just read that thousands of people have had success treating nail fungus, athlete's foot, ringworm and other fungal problems using cornmeal. Some physicans speculate that the microorganisms in corn meal, activated by warm water, literally eat the microscopic fungi.
Put one inch of cornmeal, yellow or white, in a pan, and add just enough warm, not hot, water to cover it. Let this sit for 30 minutes. Then add enough warm water to cover up your feet. Soak for at least one hour once per week until the fungus is gone. For other fungal problems that require soaking in a bath, add two cups of cornmeal to the water.
Can't hurt to try it!

This is a reply to # 1,030,572I have found from personal experience that if you suffer from candida it is not only an internal problem but it also be an external one. In order to help aid the body to rid itself of the candida,you need to address it not only internally but also externally. The first step in the cleansing process is to a intestinal cleanse. The product that I prefer to use is called Oxypowder . This product is an oxygen based intestinal cleanse. The oxygen which makes it an inhospitable environment for the candida that might be specifically located in your intestinal system. This is a reply to # 1,039,557We use the Lugol's Iodine (5%). U can check the Iodine forum for success or not. I put it on all my nails and turned up fungus I did not know I had. I think we are pretty clear of it after a couple months now - my friend had huge hunks come out of the nail.

It can travel anywhere in your body that is warm and damp. To you crotch, fingernails, even your hands. One of the big problems in curing the toenail fungus is that it gets into your shoes, socks, bedding, clothing, carpeting, etc. You have to kill it in all of those locations or just limit it to socks and shoes.

Yes it really is in your blood stream. Don't know about lesions, but it can travel to other areas of the body.

They are supposed to test to see if you are susceptible to that before they prescribe it.
