Interesting what you say about the omega 3, its all about balance in our diets..and in fact with the research that I have been doing lateley I would keep all seed and nut oils to an abosolute minimum and have mostly virgin organic coconut oil in my diet..

really do the research on the net you might be amazed how healthful it is in so many ways..it was bad mouthed by the companies after the 1950's who wanted to promote margarine and make big bucks!

You can get essential fatty acids also by taking KRILL OIL..in small amounts..but have the main fat as coconut oil..

its really healthy Bruce Fife has written several books on the subject.

You want to make sure you have proper balance of omega 6 and 3s.
I choose to use E-lyte Oil (sunflower/flax seed) for this reason as to not offset the ratio. The proper ratio is 4:1 (omega 6 to 3s).

You have brought up some very interesting information, that concerns myself.
I have been diagnosed with AF and hypoglycemia some years ago. I am going through a recovery process, as these conditions have both been on the back burner.
I have always taken a good B-complex for years, but now with my adrenal fatigued ( as my naturopathic dr. says ) I have been taking the B-complex, Vit. C, pantothenic acid and glandulars faithfully and it's been 7 weeks now and I'm still seeing very little improvement. Like you too, the worst symptoms is anxiety. I have been able to sleep ok 7 our of 10 nights. But, I just decided to give my body a rest from vitamins for 2 days, and my anxiety was much less on those days. Any connection??
I don't know. I wonder since I've been taking these for a few months, if they could be making my adrenals over react??

I started taking fish oil a couple days ago and have been experiencing insomnia. I've been sleeping well since I started taking cell salts, but this fish oil seems to have messed up my sleep pattern now. I take a multi vitamin in the morning and two fish oil caps in th am and pm. I will stop taking it in th pm and see if anything improves. I do notice more brain function, but I don't notice feeling much happier, my body also seems to feel pretty soar right now. I've noticed that when I take fish oil my brain can't calm down enough to sleep. Also I get hot sweats and can't go back to sleep after a certain point in the am because I'm too hot. I've also had adrenal/cortisol issues and have had to take suppliments for that. I don't really feel like I'm less depressed, more actually because the sleep problem makes me very irritable. Also I noticed a sort of crawling sensation on my skin when I take it, I must be taking too much I think.

Hi. Several years ago I took flax seed oil for a couple of months and began having the worst bout of anxiety that I ever had in my life. I was having panic attacks daily. It took about a month for the anxiety to gradually subside after taking the flax seed. I later read that flax seed can cause mania in people with undiagnosed low level bipolar disease. I often wondered if fish oil would do the same. Now I know. I avoid all supplements. You don't know what any of them are doing to you really. Thanks for the info.

I have noticed that fish oils cause me agitation/axiety and other problems just like DMAE does. Fish oil from cold water fish is also rich in DMAE. My conclusion is that it is the DMAE in fish oil that is causing the agitation/aniety and insomnia.

HI PM, I past some info about what I've found, below.

Firstly there is NOTHING psychologically wrong with someone who suffers from anxiety and depression. There may be some cases of endogenous Depression but they are very rare. Anxiety and Depression is caused BY something.
I call myself a spiritual sensitive but it means I'm also sensitive in lots of other ways especially chemically. Coconut oil and all coconut products can give you anxiety if you are sensitive and it seems to be accumulative so the longer you use it, the worse it gets.

Don't take vitamins or minerals as sometimes there are things in them that can give you anxiety.
Don’t ever smoke anything. Cigarettes contain hundreds of neurotoxins and weed is responsible for most psychiatric admissions.
You should also not touch anything with caffeine in it (or guarna which is pure caffeine)I cannot use ANY type of moisturiser or conditioner even for sensitive skin as they put HORRIBLE poisons into them like formaldahyde, lauryl sulphate, lauryth sulphate, parabens, alcohol etc. ALL anxiety producing agents. Caffeine by the way causes anxiety, Depression and thought and sleep disorders but it's like smoking years ago, no one is going to tell you because our whole society is built on it and it's a multi trillion dollar business. Don't ever take anti depressants they'll send you straight to hell. If you are sensitive to coconut oil it probably means you are 'a sensitive (not asensitive which is exactly the opposite) and you will have to watch EVERYTHING you eat, drink and put on your body. I do well on a very simple diet of fish, chicken and fresh vegetables and a little fruit. Don't take any medication unless you've got a raging brain infection or something and don't even taken over the counter meds. Antibiotics can cause horrible panic attacks sometimes eg Flagyl is a classic for this.

Also essential oils are potent and toxic if used on the skin I had a horrible reaction. Don't use them in hot water to soak your feet or anything as it goes straight into your body. Use a castelle soap for babies to wash your body and hair (made from olive oil) and a little olive oil for moisturiser. Dairy products can also cause anxiety. Don't drink alcohol - very bad for anxiety. There is a way to live and the key word are simple and clean. Oh be careful with ALL household cleaning products as well, wear rubber gloves while you're using them and don't breathe them in.
Anyway so many people are senstive to chemicals and don't know it. Oh also, don't use toothpaste or mouthwash it's pure poison (fluroride) and use only filtered water if you can (not bottled water).

Every time I've ever tried any type of fish oil within a few hours I start suffering from intense anxiety to the extent I have troubke sleeping. This has happened with many different types of fish oil. The day before yesterday I took just 1 krill oil supplement and I've felt anxious ever since. This has happened on so many occadions with so many different types of fish oil that it can't possibly be coincidence.

The anxiety subsides after a few days if I avoid taking fish oil. It's a very unusual and scary reaction.

Hi, yes i had this problem two night ago, as i have exams these days i started taking two tab fish oil 1000 frm last month, two night ago i had a really bad anxiety attack, im not well yet still get some mild attack at night and j have my final exam, but they gave me propronolol because of my fast heart rate and colodiazpem to make ms sleep, now i can concentrate for study is soooo hard, i think it all could be because of that fish oil tab, bac timing for me tho ...

I live in France and I experience the same thing. I just stop sleeping when I take fish oil or polyunsaturated oil like (canola, flax walnut oil, borage oil, rape oil...
I think may be those person who react like that need more vitamine E to protect these kind of polyunsaturated oil from oxydation in their body. So I m now going to try Wheat Germ oil to see if it has the same negative consequences because this oil is very rich in vit E.

Yep yourright I was taking high doses of omega 3 and large amounts of green tea (not realising the caffeine content )at a stressful period and had what i can only describe as a nervous breakdown followed by a lengthy period of anxiety I would say your on to something there I think it was the mix of the two all at once after giving up smoking and maybe overdoing the i'm gonna be healthy routine...

Realise I am responding to a very old post; but just wanted to say that fish/krill oil definitely gives me insomnia..... I wonder if its more widespread than people realise ...
