It does but you can't go back to you old lifestyle. Mine went form 132 over 92 on average to 115 over 75 after my first 10 day fast.

I really like kemosobbies advice and posts in response to your own re' High Blood Pressure.

It is true to say that fasting will and can permanently lower high blood pressure to more healthy levels, and this is what Dr Shelton has to say on the matter..............

"The speed with which fasting results in a marked reduction of blood pressure indicates the importance of rest in reducing systemic tension and excitement. The reduction may be so great in a very few days as to astonish the patient. As the toxic load is reduced, the nervous system becomes less irritated, the functions of the kidneys, adrenal, thyroid and pituitary glands are restored to normal, so that blood pressure falls to new levels, even to normal or slightly below, and tends to remain down after eating is resumed. Indeed, it will remain at or about the normal level so long as the patient continues to live in a manner to avoid the redevelopment of toxemia.
All of this is to say that the reduction of Blood Pressure secured by means of the fast is a GENUINE reduction and not a FORCED state. The organism is not crippled in the process as it is when a gland or portions of the sympathetic system are removed. If we cut out causes instead of cutting out organs, we secure a genuine and lasting elimination of effects.
As in all things, the causes that have produced the condition in the first place, will reproduce it if they are not permanently removed. Fasting is not a substitute for achieving------and holding to a correct way of life".

Hi there, here's my two cents. This year in late April I did a short 8 day fast. I went to the doctor before the fast and after, and he was surprised at how much my blood pressure had normalised. (as well as being surprised by how much weight I had lost.) I also was jogging daily though this time.

You may want to look into True North Health Clinic in Santa Rosa, CA. I was not overweight and had blood pressure of 180/135...a walking stroke waiting to happen! I then changed to a salt-free vegan diet and saw a decrease of blood pressure in the 140/95 range after several years. A significant improvement compared to where i was but not where i wanted or should be. I would see slow improvements from month to month, year to year but it seems I had reach somewhat of a plateau. I then completed a 10-day medically supervised Water Fast with complete rest (no work, no chores, no exercising - except upright yoga stretching - this was followed by a 5-day refeeding. During the fast my blood pressure went as low as 90/60! It truly jump started my blood pressure in a downward direction again. Even years after the fast, my blood pressure is 120/70. I have considered another water fast. However, I personally would ONLY due medically supervised. I had my blood checked several times, my blood pressure was checked at least 3 times per day, doctor visits several times a day, etc. I developed a few challenges, including fainting, so it was so helpful to have medical staff on-site to assist. Also, an old back injury from a car accident over 20 years that flared up to the extent that the pain prevented me from sleeping, so having a massage therapist and chiropractor on-site was a tremendous help in the healing of this injury as well. I'm reading Dr. Lovett's book. A ten day Water Fast could lower my HBP as well as help me to shed a few unwanted pounds. Has anyone experienced a Water Fast to help lower HBP?
