40 Day Fast - Constant Nausea

Hi all. I'm new here but seeking support on my 40-day journey. I've completed countless fasts over the last 10 years but this is the first of this length and the first fast in over 4 years. Tomorrow will be my 9th day on water alone and I am completely dedicated to the process. The problem I am having is the nearly constant nausea I've been feeling since Monday, Day 4. It isn't impairing my ability to do anything and my energy levels are still great, it's just this nagging nauseous feeling and I have to question if I can stick with this the next 31 days feeling like this every single day.
I know nausea is a normal part of the process and expected it, but it's never been this constant. It's not even necessarily bad enough to distract me from whatever I'm doing most of the time, but at least twice a day it forces me to lay down for 5-10 minutes until I feel I can stand again. Is it normal to feel it most of the day and for so many days in a row?
I know that the higher level of toxins in the body, the stronger the reactions and I do admit, since becoming pregnant with my son over 4 years ago I have not fasted. During my pregnancy I spent a lot of time at my parents house in the evenings because my husband worked nights and I didn't like to be alone and they happen to be great cooks. I gained 70 pounds when I was pregnant (yikes!) and that is the primary reason for the long fast now in addition to general cleansing.
But even though I overate during pregnancy and ate poorly during the first year of my son's life, (I'd eat whatever was there just for lack of time and energy, you moms know how it is!) we have now been vegetarians for 2 years. We are almost vegan, but we do use dairy based butter and cheese. I practice yoga for 30+ minutes daily and have lost 50 pounds since converting. We drink water, we don't even have any other beverage in the house besides soy milk, and we don't ever buy sweets of any kind.
So long story short, I like to think I've lived a rather healthy life the last 2 years and I didn't expect this harsh of a reaction. My main concern is just making sure something is not wrong. Again, I don't feel like I'm going to keel over and I'm still able to chase after my 3.5-year-old and do my daily yoga and all my chores around the house, etc, but it's a constant nagging nausea and it's really getting to me!
Any advice or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!! Thanks for reading my novel!! :)

I am on day 23 of my Water Fast and have been experiencing nausea in varying degrees since day 8.
I have also passed bile fluid on days 9,10,11,17,18 and 19 which in my case I believe to be part of the cause
Since I have had serious liver problems,jaundice,pale stool, passing blood, fatigue, nausea etc previously - I realise that it is because I have a digestive problems as well as eliminative ones and this is the body's way of cleaning out the eliminative pathways. I also experience relief after passing the bile and the nausea lessens.
I suspect (although I don't know for certain) that bile production during a fast in quantities large or small may trigger a digestive response that presents itself as a feeling of nausea or sometimes extreme hunger pangs, though I am sure there are other explanations for nausea also.
I would imagine that the nausea is a result of a digestive issue that is slowly being resolved in your case and would stick at the fast for as long as you can to see lasting benefit.
Thirst should determine how much and how frequently you drink water as your body will be a much better guide to hydration than anyone's advice.

The desire for fluid diminishes and may be nil in some fasters.To minimize side effects and assure the safety of all patients, however, fasters need to be encouraged to drink water to prevent dehydration. One quart of water a day is usually sufficient for most individuals, but some need to be encouraged to drink two or more quarts, depending on their laboratory parameters. Dehydration does not generally occur in the overweight patient. Rather, it is seen more frequently in the thin patient. If considerable dehydration ensues, the patient should be fed."

This is a reply to # 1,261,426When I fast, I hardly use any water, probably because I don't do much exercise. I also find I do not perspire so much, that's probably helped by a reduction in body temperature, which occurs on a fast.

I believe you are all spot on and I have suspected it's my water intake, too. I really don't feel thirsty a lot of the time but I do make a habit to leave a cool glass of water in the kitchen where I'm sure to see it often and I drink about 3-4 oz at a time throughout the day, I'd say in about 1-2 hour intervals. I do have to remind myself to drink because the desire just isn't there. I will try to up my intake. I tend to get really nauseous if I drink TOO much at a time though so I need to space it out a bit.
To pawel, I have the issue with bile as well. For days 4-7 I was passing it every day throughout the day and I did experience what you mention. I felt extremely nauseous and felt much better after it passed. The last 2 days it's been only once a day if even. The idea of an enema doesn't really thrill me but I've been told it's what I need to help me cope with this. I've even read some people says it's a necessity when fasting. Anyone have an opinion on that?
Thanks again for all your help! You put my mind at ease. I have faith in the process and I know I'm doing a wonderful thing for my body, but I was getting a little concerned that I was taking on too much.

This is a reply to # 1,261,508you will find very divided opinions on enemas, on the water fast. Chrisb1, who often cites Shelton, believes strongly that it is not advised on a water fast. (which is the way Shelton sees it also.) Some do use them. I did not, on my 29 day fast.
(though I did start the fast with a salt water flush, the first day, and prior to it, had been only eating one small meal a day for about a week.
Many people believe enemas to be too extreme; to be interfering with the body's process.
five days is not so long for some 'symptom' to present itself. During my last week, I was producing a constant amount of salty nauseating mucous. Nausea though, can be associated with dehydration. And chasing after a small child, as well as doing chores etc. is not exactly "resting". In the early days of my fast I probably drank 3 glasses of water a day (12 ounces each). By the third week, I barely felt like sipping an ounce or two a day.
Try to go by your instincts. And try to rest whenever your child rests!

I would say that when bile is produced and it is evacuated normally during a fast it has the added benefit of providing us with our own natural enema and a more complete one at that as it cleans the whole of the intestinal tract - in my case that is.

Suggested by my doctor was to take homeopathic Pekana for Lymphatic drainage, kidney and liver drainage. This is key because if these organs are not draining correctly the toxins are building up, making you sicker.
I had been doing the daily morning coffee enemas I decided to go to professional colonic clinic when I felt sick and the girl there was pretty informed about fasting . She said that my body wasn't able to dump the poisons fast enough and was getting reabsorbed and that may be why I felt so sick, and that I should drink lots and lots of water to help the body to eliminate all the toxins And that it is good idea to get a colonic the first day of the juice fasting it really cleans the colon. She told me to start using castor oil packs on my liver, She told me to skip the fruits in the juice , because she felt it was too much Sugar .Green apples if you must have a sweet juice but it is best to avoid it altogether. Since I had been juicing tons of carrots, and green apples the suddenly I had yeast overgrowth. "The Complete Guide to Fasting is a best seller and for good reason. Again, look at the data If there is a way for all of these sick diabetic people can get well and they are motivated
well the answer may be with Dr Jason Fung. Then people will take the road to recovery
One day I met with a friend who I had not seen for couple years. This is a reply to # 2,243,861Constant nausea from fasting is from toxins being reabsorbed. I talked to my naturopathic doctor He told me two things it means your pretty toxic and the toxins are being released then some of it is getting reabsorbed He gave me so me SPRINGREEN 77 to drink after coffee enema so as the coffee releases the toxins from the liver the SPRINGREEN 77 mops up the toxins quickly effectively so it does not get reabsorbed and make you sick He told me to take it anytime I felt sick while fasting. All my nausea disappeared best advice my naturopathic doctor game me.
Note of caution, always, always make sure the clay your buying is for made for humans because some are not and if ingested make you sick

this is what Shelton has to say re' nausea whilst fasting.............
"Nausea: This seems to be an expression of a sudden decrease of the normal tension of the stomach. It may be induced by a foul odor, a bad taste, a disgusting sight, or an emotional shock. Severe pain, illness, fatigue, rapid descent in an elevator, etc., may produce nausea by lowering the tension of the stomach. These things bring about a loss of tension through a complicated "reflex" mechanism.
Continual emotional disturbances, such as prolonged worries, anguish, grief and repeated shocks, may result in a persistent loss of tone in the stomach and produce the "all gone" sensation or vague nausea often complained of.
In many cases there is no doubt that the sudden withdrawing of all food, as in fasting, results in a temporary lowering of tone or tension in the stomach and this produces nausea. On the other hand, tall, thin, undernourished people are likely to suffer with a chronic lack of tension in the stomach and this becomes more noticeable when they fast. In my own experience this is absolutely the case, and where I suffered from nausea towards the end of my first 25 day fast, and which unfortunately led to intermittent vomiting for several days: the bodys way of expelling toxins and other effluent materials that cannot be utilized as fuel for the body.
Nausea (genuine nausea) is experienced only for a few days, but the all-gone sensation within the abdomen which leads to mild nausea can occur throughout.
Not very pleasant I'm afraid, but extremely beneficial.

This is a reply to # 1,261,318My day nine was yesterda, and I had similar feelings only worse. I also had stomach pains, big headache, etc. I was close to quitting my fast. Today I feel much better and I have decided to stick with it. In my experience, unpleasant feeling come and go, and they are result of detox. Usualy any dicomfort I feel is gone within two days.
