My daughter developed thyroid problems after getting the Mirena. She's on medication. And no...it has never run in our family. Her day care provider also developed hypothryoidism with the Mirena. This is a reply to # 1,377,551When I had the Mirena I was also checked for thyriod problems, but they came back normal. The law firm I am working with is trying to contact people that have had problems like yours.

Wasnt there before the mirena,but trying to tell a Dr of any kind that the wicked iud caused this...
I have an appt with an endocrinlogist on Thurs afternoon.I have absolutely no idea what he is going to do with this dam thing on my neck,kinda scared...
hopefully it can be treated with a low dose of hormonal drugs.
Plus,oddly enough my thyroid levels were all good..GO figure!
Also,noone in my family has ever had a goiter,but dont know if it is hereditary..

This is a reply to # 1,377,603I was hypothyroid after having mirena for 3 1/2 years. Iodine supplements fixed this problem once the mirena was removed. Mirena causes many problems with the thyroid.

This is a reply to # 1,377,530I have had the Mirena for a little over 3 years. I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in May of this year. Endo said I had had it for at least a year, maybe as long as two years.

This is a reply to # 1,377,530Just came back from the doctor. My 28 yr old daughter was just diagnosed with capillary thyroid carcinoma. She has had the Mirena IUD for two years.
