People have tested positive on antibody tests before just to test negative later. The problem is the inaccuracy of the tests. Antibodies of like structure cross reacting lead to false positives. When these antibodies are cleared from the system the test comes back negative. How long this will take depends on if the antibodies are endogenous or exogenous sourced, and if the infectious microbe is actually present.
