fresh feeling
Hi, I am glad that people can live a normal life with these. I just came back from the urologist, and he was telling me how different types of stones need different treatments. It was suggested that I drink 8 glasses of water a day, 3 glasses of lemonade a day (pure not from concentrate, Nantucket Nectars makes a great one) and stay away from Tea (the oxalates in tea help to form stones). I was also told to get ban chocolate, spinach, rhubarb, all berries, nuts, tea, coffee, and soda pop from my diet. I had surgery to get rid of my
kidney stones 4 months ago, but a CT scan today showed that I have 6 more. My urologist told me that by following this diet, I should not get anymore and the ones that are there will not grow. Also, my nephrologist gave me a diuretic to rid my urine of the excess calcium. Maybe that would help. Did your brother do a 24 hour urine collection? I did and it really helped my doctors to figure out what my stones were made of, and what they could do to help my kidneys. Good luck, and I hope that this helps.
P.S. There are some "herbal" remedies available online and in drugstores, they do not work and can actually damage kidneys further.
