I think people and other animals can live quite happily without any bacteria. That said, good bacteria (and yeast) certainly do contribute to vitality, and protect against bad bugs.
I think if you have dysbiosis, you would be better off without any bowel flora. Yes, it is better to have healthy flora, but faced with the choice of a bowel full of pathogens (parasitic, bacterial, virtal or fungal), or a clean bowel, I would choose the sterile bowel any day. I think that's why so many people do well on things like GSE,
Iodine and
Colloidal Silver , because they pretty much kill everything.
I think we need to be realistic when it comes to treating Candidiasis, or dysbiosis in general. Maybe some of us need to take things like
Grapefruit-Seed-Extract permanently to keep our bad bugs under control, even if it does mean we are killing our good bugs too. I think if
Grapefruit-Seed-Extract (or any antimicrobial) kills one bad bug for every good bug, then it's probably a win.
GSE also kills quite a few parasites, and it is claimed that Candida does not develop a resistance to GSE. All round
Grapefruit-Seed-Extract has a lot to offer. Maybe the best approach is to take plenty of FOS/Inulin, probiotics, kefir and cultured vegetables to replace the good guys killed in our efforts to control Candida.
