Gary Null suit vs. supplement manufacturer claims Gary Null's Ultimate Power Meal nearly killed him
Gary Null claims the manufacturer of Gary Null's Ultimate Power Meal overloaded the supplements with Vitamin D.
A controversial alternative health guru is suing after a taste of his own medicine nearly killed him.
Gary Null - described on quackwatch.org as "one of the nation's leading promoters of dubious treatment for serious disease" - claims the manufacturer of Gary Null's Ultimate Power Meal overloaded the supplements with Vitamin D.
The buff "Joy of Juicing" author, whose products include Red Stuff Powder and Gary Null's Heavenly Hair Cleaner, claims he suffered kidney damage and was left bloodied and in intense pain from two daily servings of the supplement.
"Null continued to take the Ultimate Power Meal, all the while thinking that it would help him, and relieve his condition; instead, it made him worse," the suit says.
The suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court accuses Triarco Industries of causing Null's "near-death experience" by botching the testing and manufacturing of the supplement.
Null, who also owns an eponymous food shop on the upper West Side, contends he was hit last December with "excruciating fatigue" that left him unable to walk and forced him to fly back to New York and cancel lectures, counseling and filming.
"Null would later be told that if he had not flown back to New York and seen his doctor, then he could have died within a short period of time," the suit says.
"Null then sequestered himself and fasted, only consuming massive amounts of water as he was told there was no medical treatment to lower the amount of Vitamin D in his system."
The suit accuses Triarco of inadequate safety testing that led to six consumers being hospitalized with severe kidney damage. A company representative did not return calls.
"Null, in the midst of all this, while he was suffering in bed, had dozens of his customers calling him, along with condemning and threatening him," the suit says. "In fact, they threatened that they would never buy any product of his ever again."
A lawyer for Null declined to comment, but did say the tainted supplies of the Ultimate Power Meal have been pulled from store shelves.
The suit says Null, 65, is still suffering the effects of too much Vitamin D.
"Even now, Null's condition is questionable as he continues to occasionally urinate blood," the suit says. "Unfortunately, there is no medical treatment for this as it is a matter of waiting, watching and observing what develops next."

You do not get sufficient vitamin D for optimal levels from foods (except such as cod liver oil on which you can overdoes too), only sunshine.
You can not get enough Niacin for optimal health from ANY natural source.
Other things that are not in sufficient quantity for optimum human health are methylcobalamin and CoQ10.
The point is to get the right amounts, not excessive as was the case in the article. The product used was claimed to be all natural.

This is a reply to # 1,614,406I respect your right to disagree, however if one uses a raw living foods based lifestyle and has food grown properly (in soil with micro-organisms and a wide array of minerals(the critical missing component in most raw food diets), then you will not have any issues. The trouble is agrifarming has depleted most soil (even that which many organic farms attempt to grow produce in), so people have nutritionally deplete diets. By educating oneself beyond these pitfalls, you can easily supply all the nutrition you need from your food. Even just growing your own sprouts and grasses will take you far, far beyond even organic produce. Most sprouts are between 10 to 30 times more nutritionally dense than the best organic vegetables for instance. Also by utilizing algae and ocean vegetables such as dulse you will go very far beyond any supplementation.
Another important issue here is that most supplements are unnatural and actually stress the liver. They also require extra energy to attempt to break down and remove from the system. They are not recognized by the human system and are treated as an invader. Most supplements cause an immune response as does most cooked food (scientifically documented). Most do not break down and end up in the septic system anyway.
If one thinks they need supplementation while rebuilding an unhealthy system (where there is poor absorption and organ function) then the optimal way to do this is from food based supplements such as green food blends. One must do there homework in this regard because there is a wide range in quality even in green food supplements.
This opinion is based on many years of both personal experience backed up with lots of research. In the end we must all decide what is right and true for ourselves.
What you are suggesting in your statements would mean nature screwed up. I personally believe that just as most animals in their natural habitat are healthy (especially compared to their domesticated counterparts) humans have this same capacity if they also utilize their ideal environment along with ideal nutrition.
6 years raw and my niacin levels, b12 levels etc are optimal. B12 can be synthesized in a healthy gut. North American lifestyles destroy this innate ability and it takes time and knowledge to rebuild function. This is a reply to # 1,614,474But Cholcalciferol (Vitamin D3) is Cholcalciferol, whether ingested by mouth or manufactured within the skin via sunlight. The benefits are the same.
Sunlight manufactures approx' 10,000ius of Cholcalciferol in the skin over a half hour period: the body then stops production at a level determined by itself.
Supplemenation at this level is therefore identical when sunlight is absent.
The same can be said for Manufactured Ascorbate, which is chemically identical to its natural counterpart and which has been used at very high doses (Orthomolecular Medicine) in the complete cure of Eisenmenger Syndrome (amongst other diseases and ill-health conditions).

New levels of vitamin D have been determined for optimal health and they are much higher than previously suggested.

Just for the sake of benefit of other views who happen on this thread. Another thing to consider that ties in with optimal health along with exposing skin to sunlight is sungazing I highly recommend people do this. Read up on it to do it properly.
One more thing is to walk barefoot on ground as much as possible to ground. This actually helps charge cells with earth electricity. (that's the short explanation).

In the Northern climes we don't get enough exposure to proper light, let alone just the sun. The only way you can get enough sunlight up north - and Florida too for that matter, is to leave your clothes at home!!!! (Or get active in nudist groups, which I've done at times but even then in the winter we had to have our activities indoors.) Otherwise to get one's sunshine you can either do as the heart healthy and virtually cancer free Inuit do - eat almost all meat and fat and very few veggies, and then only in the summer. It is known that the Inuit Diet is the healthiest natural diet known to modern man. Blubber and fish are high in omega 3 and fish oil is also high in vitamin D - and none of it has minerals from the earth.
I agree with an earlier post you made that said that each one has to find what works for them. Here on Cure Zone there is a very mistaken notion that one must consume lots fruits and vegetables to maintain health - and it's a total lie, but if it works for ya, have at it.
A know that walking barefoot has many benefits including a form of reflexology. But you do not have to go barefoot to run your earth energy. Your earth energy begins in the arches of your feet - your foot chakras, and run up your legs. Simple as that..."The Out of Africa theory is currently the prevailing view among research scientists. That has been substantially supported by the recent field of mitochondrial DNA studies. (You and I and everyone else on the planet have African ancestors.) That view is held by the authors of two books that I have - "The Vitamin D Cure" by James Dowd, MD and "The Power of Vitamin D" by Sarfaz Azidi MD and both point out the subsequent difficulties that everyone in the northern climes have creating vitamin D from sunshine. Azidi has a practice in Los Angeles and is also an associate professor at UCLA and he says the vast majority of people he tests (he tests all his patients) are vitamin D deficient. They both point out that sun provides very little vitamin D production for most people, and dark skinned people living in the Northern Hemisphere in particular have an even higher incidence of vitamin D deficiency because of their built in sun blockers. Both books say that we in the Northern Hemisphere have significant vitamin D deficiencies and have the diseases and conditions associated with that shortage. They both recommend significant supplementation with vitamin D3.
We did not evolve on local flora and fauna. I'll stick to my guns. The healthiest natural human diet found in real time on the planet is - the Inuit Diet. Their cardiovascular and cancer rates are far lower than any other population and their eating and medical statistics have been documented - before they and their offspring turned to the typical Western diets. To prove that it is the diet that is beneficial a couple of researches ate the Inuit way for three years in their home country in Europe while under medical monitoring - during the 1920s, and were found to be healthy living that life style.
What I did learn during my nudist experiences is that - there is no such thing as a perfect body. In fact if I were running things there wouldn't be a "dress down" Friday, there would be a no clothing Friday where you couldn't be at your job or anywhere in public with a stitch of clothing on. If we could do that it would blow the Madison Avenue/Hollywood air-brushed pictures and associated propaganda about bodies clearly out of the water. Some folks think that nudity is immoral. They've got it backwards.

If you're taking a "biblical" perspective, I myself see no conflict between evolution and Judeo-Christianity. Chapter 1 of Genesis has a creation of the planet and mankind prior to the Chapter 2 Adam and Eve version. In fact, there could easily be a creation prior to Chapter 1 because it tells the man and woman created in the image of god(s) to go out and replenish the earth - in the KJV.
You and I and everyone on the planet is an eternal spirit - separate from our bodies, and yes we are all connected from the brand new AIDS baby in Africa to Bill Gates, to the International Bankers - that's what we are here to learn. I'm a very slow learner, by the way.

Animals store their self-produced D3 in several different ways, Furry mammals grow it into their fur, pigs, humans and other smooth-skinned critters store it in their fat, birds store it in part in their fat and their feathers, reptiles.. well, I haven't checked that out entirely yet!

.. It's all geeky greek until one uses a few evenings on Wikipedia! The link above (PDF) that I provide includes the explanation of the terminologies used (fx, what neurotrophic factors are), and what it means for neurological health.
One of the things I find most interesting is D3's role in stiumulating the production of glutathione in the body- basically what you need to up the production of glutathione is some D3, avacado, a health diet and rest!
God gave us wonderful bodies and all the tools we need to take care of it. I think Science should -benefit- nature and confirm our health and well being.. not pull us so far away from the land as it has done.
