Just sharing a recent experience.
I recently had a visit with my dentist, for a cleaning and general purpose checkup. I had not been to see him in nearly 3 years. Just to give a little background and perspective, this is the same dentist I went to (about 5 years ago) for removal of all
Amalgams and root canals.
For several years now I've been having a gradual problem with receding gums. This was the case before I began the dental cleanup program 5 years ago, but since the extraction of several root-canaled teeth the problem has become more pronounced for the teeth near the sites of the extractions. Today I asked the doc if there is anything he knows of that might help regenerate new gum growth. He said no, he does not know of any such solution, but then he asked if I'd ever heard of oil pulling. I told him I did and although I dabbled with it a bit I never got into a regular regimen. He said it might be something for me to try as a general purpose cleanser / detoxer for the mouth, and once I begin this in turn it might help strengthen what little gums I still have. I thought this was kinda cool and a bit reassuring that he and I are kinda on the same wavelength. Once he mentioned oil pulling it sort of gave rise to conversation about the tonsils and other parts of the immune system.
