I believe that it will work well. I do a lot of one-day fasts.
I had problems with my adrenals, and fasting is quite difficult with such condition. I managed to revive my adrenals by taking whey powder supplemets (Ori Hoffmaker's whey protein with Aminogen is the best, and you can buy it at SwansonVitamins.com for very good price) plus B5 (pantothenic acid) that provides the main support for adrenals. In my case, it was also related to low stomach acids that lead to indigestion of proteins. I fixed that by drinking water with lemon juice before meals and using a lot of lemons and cayenne pepper (they stumulate production of stomach acid) to spice my meals.
I feel great, plus my nails that used to split all the time are really healthy now, which is a good sign that my stomach acids are back to normal. And my B12 deficiency is fixed. I used to have B12 shots, because supplements didn't work. Now, I feel that I don't need them anymore.
You can also take betaine HCl supplement to improve digestion, if your stomach acids are low. I am convinced now that besides the stress, low stomach acidity was to blame for my adrenal problems.
All disgestive problems mostly related to stomach acidity: either too high or too low. And symptomas are almost identical in both cases.
If you have too much stomach acid though, you will hate lemon juice with water. If you stomach acids are low, you will love it. Just think about it, and you might get the picture without expensive tests.
And - it's okay to add some raw honey to your lemon juice.
