for a while now I been tryin to figure out what this symptom exactly is or is caused by.
used to be when I ate certain foods when id try to go to sleep I'd get a jerk/jolt as I was drifting off. it was hard to explain felt like I'd stop breathing or my heart was stopping.
this happened on an off for a while, no idea what triggers it. even before my benzo use.
now I have it during the day, night all the time . in starting to think adrenal?
I was watching the news, they were telling a story about some accidental shooting an how it hit some guy. I got the jolt right hen they said that, like it scared me or the fight/flight thing. it also happened earlier when watching a cartoon! a character fell through the ice an I got the jolt in my chest. its been getting worse, I'm hoping my adrenals arent shittin out. I haven't noticed any dark skin. it's like everything makes me Jump an get that jolt, I'm also really ready to run. tons of back pain to. it feels like my mind is trying to perceive everything an I can't just focus, even writing this I keep checking my peripheral vision for something to be there? my blood pressure is ok 102/54 66 pulse I'm laying down. too much potassium today, to much salt, just benzo withdrawal?
this shit is driving me mad, I'm even on Valium an it's still happening! I've searched all over the web an came up with hypognic jerks bit those people only got it when drifting off to sleep. I'm getting it from everything. I also feel very on edge an unable to relax. yea probably benzo I know. buy damn is it my adrenals neurological how the he'll can I get some rest?

... this had gone away for the most part and is now back as my liver is detoxifying itself hardcore. Lots if not all to do with the benzos I'd say. - Re: another post! ray34iyf

This is a reply to # 1,777,178EXACTLY it's like even the tiniest things shoots adrenaline in my body. in just sitting here reading yet I feel all my senses are active an moving rapidly searching for potential danger. it's like my senses are trying to absorb every single thing in the environment, I can't just relax. tempted to take more Valium but dint wanna mess up my schedule.
everytime a cat drives by it startles me.
i hear the windchimes, the television. cars. my usually blocks out this background noise!!!

This is a reply to # 1,777,179More drug isn't going to fix it... what I HAVE found helps immensely is when I have my stethoscope in... so how about EAR PLUGS! I would assume they would help a lot when you are trying to calm down and rest... it sucks, I can't even listen to music at times... the changing tunes jar my system.. although that is more or less in the past.. only as I'm detoxing has it come back a bit.

This is a reply to # 1,777,183I have this too. I'm very sensitive to sound and stimulus. I highly suggest earplugs, and for now, I would take a break from TV, especially anything that's not soothing.
I sleep every night with earplugs in because I hear all of it and it all makes me jump. There was a period when I couldn't watch tv or listen to music because I was too sensitive. There are lots of potential reasons why a person could be sensitive like that including benzos, right? In the mean time, definitely put those ear plugs in and chill with the TV watching. Or, you could try watching it with the volume way down or on mute. I watched movies with subtitles for a while before I started being able to tollerate sound again.

This is a reply to # 1,777,262Yes earplugs really work. Most of the people are using earplugs while sleeping, swimming, singing, diving and other many more activities. I think you have to wear earplugs if you cannot bear the unwanted noise.

real quick here now , have you tried EFT ?
I know this is hard to go through and yes your mind/ body is overstimulated and sensitive right now and since you are not stable yet then things are tough .
try going with it and seeing what happens . dont fear it . accept it . accept it as a part of you for now and see if dont pass in a bit. worse thing that can happen is that you will not go to sleep for a long while right? you could try putting that energy to use . read that book and try to focus on the words and really understand them .get up and walk around or whatever it is you know of to calm you down . I used to have to wear myself out physically at times just so I could rest . I know what the jumping outta ya skin feels like too and being so restless and tired but with the body and mind still running rampant . sometimes I would lay in the bed and my heart would start beating outta control real fast and that was real hard to get through .its like I was so tired but my body/mind wouldnt let me rest . I awoke to adrenaline surges every morning for a while .it took a few hours to subside to tolerable levels .
I know when I made the switch over to valium it took me almost a week to get stable ..I ended up doubling my dose to get there .Uny can help you with that though. I know you need to be stable and have some peace right now .
I know its hard sweetie but can you try some of the suggestions and just see what happens .
and as Uny said in another post - dont feed the wolf !
I gotta go to bed and get some rest now
