So after my 8 year old went through his earache/virus episode I had explained to both my boys why we did not want to go to the doc. I told them about Antibiotics and how they harm the immune system and kill off the good bacteria.
Fast forward to yesterday. My 11 year old started getting the virus so I told him we needed to start echinacea. He was apprehensive because he heard his little brother say how bad it tasted! Well he took it twice yesterday and then this morning he came and asked for more as well as this evening. He is a believer!He said he was asking for it becasue he knew if he didn't take it he would end up worse like his brother was and he didn't want to get that way.
I am amazed that my boys are such troopers that they take it! It does taste bad! But I am more amazed that they can wrap their heads around why then need it!

You taught them "truth" and of course, theytrusted you and consciously didn't want to get sick...but methinks (knows :) there's a bit more to it than that!
I doubt your children ever spontaneously asked for 'bad tasting' chemical medicines, even if they'd been 'taught' that they were beneficial. Why? Because intrinsically they 'know' that chemical concoctions don't heal (and do harm).
Children aren't yet conditioned & brainwashed to 'only believe' if they know "facts that can be proven". They don't have to "wrap their heads around it"...they still hear the voice of their spirit, intuition & inner-knowing-ness (their "doctor within").
Given the truth from someone they trust and being guided to a natural healing herb/substance/food that works, you will find they will start asking for these things more and more :)
My sisters children (4 of them) now regularly ask for echinacea, garlic, Bentonite & activated charcoal, etc. Over several years, my sister has made each available to them, and they somehow know which herb/food to choose without ever 'knowing the facts' of what precisely is wrong in their bodies!
Sure, their mom has chosen the right one for them in the past, so they've consciously learned to associate certain herbs/substances with certain feelings. But it's nothing at ALL like them 'knowing & choosing' from a shelf of pharmaceutical chemicals.
YOU...are an AWESOME MOMMY!!!

my 14 yr old has taken Echinacea all this winter and hasnt been since once !
I got her to start taking it when she was getting sick constantly -catching viruses and colds from school and she was getting real tired of it
I kept telling her that if she took echincea that she wouldnt be getting sick all the time and after a while she started to listen to me and lo and behold ! no colds or viruses all winter - best of all no doctors visits either!!
down side - I cant keep enough echinacea around for us all !! LOL we will go through a 4 oz bottle in a week between me and her both
gonna have to make more when I get back home
we use it on our face too (me n her) for Acne along with bentinite clay masks too
It wont be long till those boys realize that it will keep em from getting sick if they take it enough
my daughter always mixed hers in juice and took up to 6 droppersfull at a time ..I would ask her why and she would say " well mom , I was starting to get sick and I wanted to knock it out " LOL woo! hoo! at a girl
just thought I would testify a little LOL

There are a LOT of people on the forum that have made their own, and everyone has shared lots of tips (link above).
All you need is organic, dried, c/s Echinacea Angustifolia root (c/s stands for cut & sifted); organic, dried, c/s Echinacea Purpurea root, 100 proof vodka (cheap works just as good as expensive) and glass jars with tight fitting lids (most use canning jars).
You can get the herbs at Pacific Botanicals (best, because they grown their own Purpurea... but PB sells in minimums of 1# for each selection). Or Mountain Rose...which sells in smaller sizes.
Options:
--add Echinacea Purpurea seed from P/B
--add FRESH Echinacea Purpurea root from P/B (must check the website to see when the next harvest is, and call in advance to place "temp order". Then they call you the day they harvest and ship it the next day. Fresh roots must be shipped via Overnite UPS or 2nd Day UPS...so it's pricey to do this even though the herbs are reasonable). You must tincture them immediately or store them in the freezer (you could add them to a tincture in progress).
Fresh Echinacea roots are 'hard as rock', so it's VERY difficult to chop them and very hard on equipment to macerate them (they might harm a typical blender, but the VitaMix seems to handle them).
Our Echinacea tincture is made with both types of dried root and either the seeds or the fresh root (or both). But most folks on the forum use only the dried roots...and they still have a tincture that is FAR more effective than 95% of the tinctures in the world!
