Well ... just hit day 15, feeling weak today. Overall the experience isn't too bad. My rash is all over my stomach and back, it has reduced some. It comes in and out of hibernation. Had some low back pain for three days, and some deep muscle aches in legs on day 10 & 11.
The weightloss is averaging about 1.3/day. I had a couple days with not too much. I am excited to get the remainder of the next 15 days over.
My question concerns my friend. She started her fast last Sunday. She is following Olivia Cohen (watched all her videos) because she doesn't want to give up taking vitamins. I cannot convince her she will not die. The other scary fact is she is drinking coffee and diet coke. I told her how bad that is for her fast because she isn't saving her nutrient reserves, instead the body is thinking it is getting food so it won't conserve.
She is Jewish, and believes in what Olivia Cohen did. I cannot find any exact threads that discuss the dangers of fasting while drinking coffee and diet soda. She weighs 232 pounds, so she thinks because her fat reserves are so high she isn't in danger.
Any links I can send her to convince her how dangerous this is for her? She won't come to curezone, and I have sent her things on my fast as well.
I am scared for her health and told her that this kind of fasting (bad bad diet actually) will not help her. She risks severe damage to her body.

Wow! I relate to your concerns ... coffee and diet coke are soooo acid! She is in real trouble doing this. Plus the sweeteners lately are accused to actually put weight on, not like some of them are 0 calories. Plus brain damage from MSG, aspartame, sodium benzoate and what not. She would be so much better of with water sweetened with honey, and or lemon in it ...

-- I cannot specifically find where Shelton talks about not adding anything in the water (extreme case: "adding" all the ingredients of the diet coke/coffee). If you find it in the book, please share. Vitamins seem to me more "benign" things to add, but it is somewhat counter intuitive and probably harmful, since Water Fast is total GIT nutritious abstinence from any outside source..
My impression is that Olivia Cohen did not consume drinks other than water and her vitamins on her water fasts. Her 3 consecutive 40 days fasts, only spaced by 10 days of eating food, more over meat as a first meal, are extremely dangerous example to follow. The body should be allowed to recuperate for quite a while after a long fast. I do not think that even Jesus did 3x 40 days fasts in a row. The faith of Cohen is admirable, but she could have died in the process...

The government allows them, if they use a substance with less than 99% pure Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) in it, to include Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) under substitute name on the label ... it is virtually in every processed foods. Food companies want to trick us into believing there is no MSG in their foods, because they now that many people are aware if its toxicity.

Thanks for all the pages and posts. I have sent them to my friend and hope she will adhere the warnings.
I am on day 16 and she can tell I am fasting. My weight is dropping, and we had a long talk today about it again. I told her if she just gave it 3-4 days she will not be hungry. She just needs to get through the immediate withdraw.
She won't...she believes as long as she drinks diet coke and coffee it will curb her hunger.
I just smiled and told her I emailed her more advice.
Day 16 is okay, having more leg cramps and feeling tired today. Had a long weekend with the kids.
My mouth is also dryer, so I am going to add a tab bit more water. I was doing some dry fasting days along with water. I am only drinking to thirst, and found I haven't been too thirsty until today. I am hoping some extra water will help my legs. Man the cramps are intense.
