Hi All,
I am new to your wonderful forum and I am at my wits ends. I am afraid and I am not getting ANY answers except running into a brick wall, what makes it worse, I a RN, I still can't get information. Please any and all comments, information, suggestions are welcome and I guess I am scared and frustrated. I have even asked my mother's neurologist says that she can't talk to me directly regarding myself and my primary doctor doesn't want to investigate further because I am I not suffering any "obvious concerning" MG symptoms and won't authorize a referral to a neurologist/MG specialist. GGGRRRRRRRR......
HISTORY: I am a 39 year old female who has been diagnosed with psorasis, psoractic arthritis and rhuematoid arthritis, all immunological disorders. Lately I have been experiencing increased fatigue and what appears to be a lower immune response to diseases (getting sick WAY MORE, going septic from a strep infection WHILE ON ANTIBIOTICS) and more severe allergic reactions (5 anaphalactic reactions to one dose of 500mg of Keflex)
FAMILY HISTORY: My mother at 78 was diagnosed with Myastenia Gravis via a Myastenia Gravis crisis which involved 8 weeks in the hospital. She too was diagnosed with psorasis, psoractic arthritis and rhuematoid arthritis prior to her MG diagnosis. My mother has been stabilized, discharged home (I live 5 townhouses away), is on 240 mg daily of mestinon, 2000 mg daily of cellcept and monthly IVIG treatments.
My question is: It is obvious that my mother and myself are suffering from various immunological disorders, I am concerned that because I am trending JUST LIKE MY MOTHER, am I at risk for getting MG? I have done research and it seems as though MG is not a genetic linked disorder, but I can't stop the feeling that I am at risk and from my recent history, my immune system is apperantly and obviously wacked out.

This is a reply to # 2,042,654I have a family friend that has used the Schulze formula listed in the MG post before yours. She saw some improvement but has yet to do what Schulze says to do first, the Incurables Program. In 1998(?) he said: “Obviously, when anybody has any neuromuscular disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis or others, it is the Incurables Program. That’s where everybody has to start.” I have the18 page section where this subject is discussed in more but similar detail.
You ought to do a Google search for: “Myasthenia gravis + gluten intolerance”. My new Dr is of the “Functional Medicine” variety. First visit put me on a gluten-free diet because I was deemed “gluten intolerant”. Dr’s mother has RA, still does but without the pain. I personally have less pain as a result of the diet. You don’t realize what modern, hybrid wheat has done to us in so many ways since the 60’s and how/why it messes up the adsorption of nutrients that pass thru the small intestine and thus cause illness.

When I watched some of these videos, I was reminded of what one nutritional chiropractor in the Atlanta area said concerning why elderly often die: they die of starvation as a result of poor digestion in later yrs. What’s the difference if our gut is so messed up due to gluten?
When it comes to family genetics, I’ve heard it said: 10% heredity, 90% environment. So, do you eat similar foods as do your parents?
Just take a look at gluten as a possibility. We are all different and there may be other options. Now what Dr O’Bryan says, the next step is to heal the damage. So the heath journey is not over for me.

Of the 29 interviews, I watched 18. Several of the researchers/Doctors mentioned MS (a close cousin to MG???) as a link to gluten sensitivity. I am trying to get the family friend to just do it for a month or two. My problem is that I have converted no one despite them knowing my health has improved this past year. Guess that unless you stumble onto a knowledgeable Dr yourself and pay big $$$...
I need to quit spiting into the wind.

This is a reply to # 2,042,654I too wonder if there is a genetic link to MG. Everything I have read says it is not. My father was recently diagnosed with MG. His mother also had it and died due to complications from it. From what I have researched, there are only about 1 in 5,000 people diagnosed with MG. For a mother & son to both have it seems a little too much of a coincidence for me. Your post is from 8 months ago, and I was wondering if you found any new information?

This is a reply to # 2,122,696Hi, I was diagnosed at 15. I am now 38 and still haven't heard any difference when reading about MG. Does this mean they don't have many case studies and don't know much about it? I have never sought a support group or chat group so I'm unsure how common it is. However, I have 2 sons 19 and 17, both healthy and symptom free. That's all the advise I can give sorry
