After having this cyst on my face for the last 3 years it's becoming noticeable to others (and even smelly to me) and I do not want this thing on my face when I get married next year. I've been doing quite a bit of research on how to get rid of it. Surgery is just out of the question. I woke up in the middle of the night having a panic attack because I just cannot bare the thought of a knife on my face.
The past week I've been bothering it. Probably a mistake. I've been boiling water and soaking a cloth in the water and cooling it a little (but still pretty warm) and applying it to face. Everyday for a week. After the third day I squeezed and it got quite a bit out. It smelled up the entire bathroom. The bump is not noticeable anymore, i still feel something under my skin. Like it's been flattened or something or maybe the gland is just swollen and I need to stop messing. So after last night I decided to just leave it alone. Not mess with it and not wear any make up and keep hands clean as possible.
DAY1: I went and bought castor oil from my local whole food store, was around 5 dollars. I've been applying with tissues and plastering it on. I've noticed it's been constantly oozing a little out. I guess this is a good thing? Is this what the oil is suppose to do? Tonight I plan on wearing a bandaid and soaking it with the oil. I will keep you all posted. I've noticed it has gone down SLIGHTLY in size but still big and flat. But then again cysts are wierd and not sure if it's the oil. I've also decided to stick to a somewhat healthier diet as much as I can. More tea and water and trying to stay away from fatty foods.

This is a reply to # 2,071,829update: Just thought I would keep updating on anything I could think of. I hope it's of use to anyone out there who is reading this. I know that I always wish there was detailed reports on any concern I had.
Anyway, hasn't been a whole day with the castor oil but I've kept it globbed on there with a cotton pad bandaid on there when I am home. I cleaned it earlier with some rubbing alcohol. A few minutes ago I noticed it was quite crusty around the pore that is on the cyst. It's still really sore from me squeezing it yesterday. Haven't noticed any changes. It's still real red from squeezing, hoping that goes away within the next few days. Prayin this works. Keeping positive and staying on top of it. Before bed I took a bath and washed my face with a gentle cleanser and then got into the hot bath. I put the castor oil all over my face because I heard it's good for your skin and not just for cysts and other things. So over night I bandage it with the castor oil still on it and all over. I wake up and I notice no changes except my skin feels soft (after taking a shower and washing my face) it felt better and also it looked better. I cant really explain it but it just looked a lot healthier. That is the only change I can say. My cyst is still real sore from squeezing it a few days ago. Im tempted to ice it tomorrow. It's night time and I am doing the same routine as I did last night except after bath I washed with just water the castor oil off my face. When i towel dried I just put the oil on the face and a bandaid on the cyst, so we will see what happens in the morning.

Anyway,Cyst on face is i'm almost sure infected. Called doctor yesterday on what to do. He suggested to keep warm Water on the face as much as i can for the weekend (two days) and call him to updated him on monday to see if it's gone down. He says the hot water will bring it to a head (im not even 100% sure what that even means, if any of yall can explain this Id be grateful). Ive been drinking a lot of water lately and yogurt to keep my skin as healthy as possible. Ibprofen isnt doing a darn thing for it. Ive taken as much as the bottle says I can for a day and it doesnt help the pain at all.
It looks awful, its bright red and it looks light I got hit. It hurts a lot when touching and when I add neosporin it burns, yes burns!! I am hoping it goes down tomorrow. I am going to call him back to get some Antibiotic and pray to God it doesnt go awry. My aunt is a nurse and thinks that I won't need to get surgery and says that Antibiotics should do ok.
I have STOPPED using the castor oil. It peeled the skin on my cyst off and I think it just made it more infected and angrier. My doctor also suggests not using an ice pack because it will do nothing for it if its infected and swollen.
I suppose all I can do is wait till tomorrow and see how it's doing and call my doctor. In the mean time, anyone have any suggestions? - Re: Castor Oil Treatment hogwarts90

MoreThis is a reply to # 2,074,242Castor oil also did not help with my scalp sebaceous cyst at all (nor did black salve or iodine). I suspect that some of the cysts that people are claiming it helped with may be small Acne cysts, which can at times be popped or resolve on their own, rather than large pilar or epidermoid sebaceous cysts, which tend to be harder to get rid of.

This is a reply to # 2,136,744So I never had a cyst in my life. I have constant blackhead breakouts in my mid-30s, as a teen I was zit faced...but they would come and go all over my face. I started using castor oil as a "hair gel" a couple years ago, and around the same time a cyst appeared on my scalp. I thought nothing of it. 2 years later it's still there, need to drain periodically, but I now have dozen cysts mostly on head and chin. I think there's a correlation there for me so I stopped using Castor oil recently.
Perhaps the hot pack with castor oil helps, since heat makes it thin, potentially absorb into skin and into cyst liquid, and possible then leads to body eliminating to foreign fluids. Being natural and safe, that may be mechanism for you to try. I'm not sure. But do NOT use castor oil without heating!! It will make it worse...for me, it was the cause of it!!

This is a reply to # 2,071,829yes thank you so much just used yur remedy literally had the castor oil on for 1 hour with a heating pad on top took it off the clean it and it . burst!! oozing puss omg im really sorry for the tmi but you all dont know how appreciative i am to find a place where holistic remedies are not frowned upon. i just became a member and thatnk you for curing my cyst. i t bursted. but can anyone now tell me how i should care for it until?? its completely drained. do i keep the castor oil or swith to the vinigar and baking soda?? i dont want it to get infected. btw anyone know how and why i get these randomly?? - Re: Castor Oil Treatment adomissioner

This is a reply to # 2,071,829Earlier this year, I discovered a sebaceous cyst about the size of an almond between my thigh and outer labia, that was making cycling uncomfortable.
I had a dermatology appointment already schedule that was a couple months away, so I thought, if I can save a few hundred dollars on surgery and zap this thing before then, so much the better.
I tried falling asleep nightly with and a warm rice pack and a piece of cloth soaked in castor oil between my legs. It took a long time — about 30 days for it to be gone completely. It never came to a head or drained, just decreased in size. The changes were imperceptible for the first couple of weeks and then moved more quickly towards the end of the month.
I'm so happy it worked, even if it took some time!
