So you all probably know the insistent user natway. He has asked us many times to eat like pigs and that will cure adrenal fatigue or candida overgrowth, which arent even real lol. While I dont concur with him with that, I know that I wasnt eating enough before, and that was a direct result of researching adrenal fatigue and candida overgrowth and doing insane diets. Dont be lazy and take some minutes to count the calories of your day so we can know if you are eating enough and how its your weight. If they are below 2000 then you should consider upping them in case you are underweight.
I will serve as an example, let see:
Half a liter of kefir aprox: 250 calories
Kiwi, three: 120 calories
Halibut spanish stew with whole rye bread: 380 calories
4 plums: 70 calories
75 grams of relatively healthy spanish traditional sweet: 400 calories
100 grams aprox of peanuts: 500 calories
Vegetable juicing: Around 100 calories
Brown basmati rice with lentils etc: Around 300 calories
Today we had 2120 calories, its not the norm, I usually get less, and thats why I am only 65 kgs with 180 cm tall. But looking almost normal, just too thin, but no longer skinny as I used to. My goal would be 70 kgs or 75, but for that it would be needed to cure "AF" or "CFS"(which its quite real despite what natway thinks)to have enough digestive enzymes, energy and motivation. Meanwhile, eat enough and not starve.
PD: Anthony the Liver Troll wants to add: "Eat Potatoes!" XD (Just kidding, I think its not bad to eat potatoes from time to time)

This is a reply to # 2,090,062When the body is in a high stress state, normally those with high cortisol and locked in fight or flight, the body burns up way more calories, and we need to compensate for that, ideally we need to be hitting 3k plus of easy to digest calories. Its hard, as I know for myself, im allergic to nearly every food group but I try!
Natway makes SOME sense, but his ridiculous ideology like all jumped up fruitarians makes listening to him a chore...they are all the same, its one way for everyone or you are wrong! Trust me, I live with one!
Potatoes contain lots of excellent things, like Bromeline, Quiercitin ang magnesium, so ignoring them completely isnt that wise.
Just my opinion!

I used to loathe potatoes but now I see them with other eyes. The old buds cannot be that bad, our grandgrandfathers ate them regularly. I only dont like that they are solanaceas, and thus inflammatory, but so far they never make me feel discomfort or anything, unless they are CRISPS which are pretty harsh for a sensitive gut.
I know about natway, but he has some valid points, I just want to know how much calories people eat. I know myself I was CLEARLY undereating some months ago. So you go around 3000? What its your body weight?

This is a reply to # 2,090,144Let me just say that potatoes are amazing! One medium Russet provides over 50% RDA vitamin C, as well as almost 100mg of magnesium. They have a good amount of protein too. They are a powerhouse veggie, one of the only ones that you could actually completely live on if worse came to worse. It's sad they've gotten such a bad reputation, but its mostly due to what people cook them in etc (like hydrogenated vegetable oils).
For almost 2 years I adhered to a strict very low carb Paleo diet and I kept getting worse and worse. I am allergic to almost every food as well, so eating has been a chore for me too as far as getting enough calories. BUT since I started eating potatoes (and carbs) again, as well as full fat dairy, I am healing at a very very fast rate. I no longer look like a concentration camp resident, I'm back at the gym twice a week. I don't have dandruff anymore, my hands and feet are warm again, and my hair has stopped falling out. I can stay outside in the 90 degree Florida sunshine for a few hours and not feel like passing out anymore. I also have ENERGY. Low carb completely tanked my thyroid and left me starving. Following the advice of all these wacky candida and AF "experts" put me on my deathbed. I'm still working on healing, but it's a far cry from where I was just 3 months ago.
Natway does make sense calorically speaking, but I agree with Mikey about how his approach (like all fruitarians and vegans) needs to change if he wants anyone to hear him out. But I don't have room to talk, I was once one of those preachy vegans :) I'm 5'10 and I'm holding steady at about 145 lbs. I eat about 1500-1800 calories a day now.
Oh, and I eat about 15 pounds of potatoes a week, including crisps which don't bother my gut at all. My gut got so irritated from salicylates that I went into anaphylaxis after a high dose of sals from some tumeric seasoning and couldn't eat anything for almost a month. Crisps were the first thing my body accepted again :) I now follow the Failsafe diet and feel better than I've felt in years- Re: The caloric thread 155216

This is a reply to # 2,090,330Wtf thats great!!! I love full fat dairy... yesterday it was delightful to eat an organic yogurt of sheep milk, so creamy and dense. I also love mashed potatoes with olive oil and Sea Salt ! :D Undoubtely good and plenty of food its a big factor in AF.

This is a reply to # 2,090,735Oh yes full fat dairy has been awesome along with the potatoes. I make my own butter and ice cream (sweetened with a touch of maple syrup) and soon will be trying my hand at homemade cream cheese. I put butter on everything, including my potatoes. I avoided both these foods because all the gurus said they were "inflammatory". Turns out that the loads of vegetables, nuts and coconut oil were actually inflamming me worse than anything! Just goes to show that every body is different!
My grandfather was an Irish farmer and he lived on potatoes, as well as did my whole family on that side. So perhaps I am genetically set up to thrive on them :)
Another great thing I found out about potatoes- they have loads of natural iodine. Total thyroid food!
Check out the work of Matt Stone at 180 degree health. I thought he was a lunatic with his approach to carbs, but I tried it and it really made a big change. Carb loading, as he calls it, actually boosted my metabolism back up after I tanked my thyroid going too low carb. Also, even on 30g of carbs a day and no Sugar at all I was in the prediabetic range of blood sugar. Now my blood Sugar is more normal than its been in years and I am no longer prediabetic.
Perhaps that's what the fruties are onto...all that fruit= carbs

This is a reply to # 2,090,062Being a vegan carb-a-holic (TONS of brown rice, tereyaki sauce, bread, chocolate, cookies) with a low protein + high gluten intake... and adrenaline-junkie (snowboard + mountan bike obsession) set the stage for my AFS.
About a year before I hit AFS rock bottom, I started eating meat again and discovered that - despite a decade of politically correct Vegetarian Brainwashing - meat was actually very healthy and well-received by my body.

Schwzrzbein advocates balancing of carbs with fatand protien.. and consuming ENOUGH carbs with each meal... saying that eating too low carb causes adrenaline secretion.
My main carb has been GABA brown rice... sprouted in a Japanese rice cooker and chock full of a calming neurotransmitter amino... and it is WAY better than any other carb I have tried. I mix GABA brown rice with coconut oil or butter and add salt with Braggs Liquid Aminos (gluten free soy sauce) or fish sauce.
In an attempt to take my healing to a next level... I recently started looking into Low Carb diets (Paleo, Primal Blueprint) and I started dropping grains out of my diet and replacing them with fruit.
I started to lose weight from my already lean frame...
So I think that stuff like Paleo is another one of those "dogmatic" diets...like Vegan... with some merit to it... but it is anti-social, too strict and not for me.
The general, flexible principles outlined in Schwarzbein Principle II have helped heal my damaged metabolism the most.
In my own personal experience healing from AFS...
GOOD = TONS of vegetables, as much fish/ meat/eggs as you want, BROTH and soups, salt, butter (non-inflammatory dairy fat), isolated Whey protein powder (non-inflammatory dairy protein) a conservative / moderate amount of GABA brown rice mixed with butter or oil, a LITTLE fruit (e.g., half an apple, grapefruit or mango after lunch & dinner)
BAD = wheat, dairy, sugar, high GI grains( white rice or instant rice, millet) processed food (anything that comes in a box or packet, MSG

This is a reply to # 2,091,391I try to eat super healthy but lately I am indulging in things like spelt and whole rye black german bread and such. I wonder what its the effect of "healthy" gluten in us.
Yeah I know about vegetarianism, its just that I am now against killing and eating animals... I cannot help but to feel like that. Its strange how I ended having vegetarian impulses, it started back then when I was a teen investigating the illuminati which lead me to realize we are livestock for an interdimensional alien race. Yeah very wacky, but approach the theme with an open mind and some serious research and you´ll see. Thats why I cannot simply eat meat, doing it its a form of subconscious approval for the predatorial paradigm.

This is a reply to # 2,091,391Bread.. any kind of bread... especially any kind of wheat bread (don't care if it's Organic Sprouted Kosher Whole Grain Heirloom Bible bread)... pizza, wraps, crackers, peanut butter pretzels, sliders, Tofu hotdog buns,... whatever...
Bread is processed, high glycemic, inflammatory and the ABSOLUTE WORST! (for me).
It is uncontrollably addictive to me, unbalances my blood Sugar faster than anything, and best avoided.
As incredibly, delicious, chewy, crusty and yummy and blood Sugar rocketing as it is... I had to give it up for good.
