Water Fasting But Not Losing Weight....

Some weeks ago I decided to begin my first Water Fast in order to lose weight as well as cleanse my system.
In the first week I slimmed down a very noticeable amount, however the scales didn't show any difference until day 5, at which point it showed I had lost 10 lbs.
Since then it has been almost two weeks and the scales haven't budged at all. The pictures I have been taking weekly have also shown little to no difference aside from some minor weight-loss around my face.
I have remained very dedicated to the fast so far, having consumed nothing but water for 18 days now (around 2 litres a day), and although I have been less active than usual due to fatigue, I fail to see why I do not appear to be making progress.
If anybody can offer some advice or an explanation as to why I appear to have stopped losing weight?

What you're experiencing is normal.
It will come back anyway because your metabolism will be slower now. Your body will think you're still starving and store fat when you resume eating.

MoreThis is a reply to # 2,093,664Well before starting I was 210 lbs, I did a brief one-week fast followed by two weeks of dieting in order to prepare my system. From that I went down to 200 lbs.

The only other case like this I've heard of was this middle-aged woman who was like, yeah, I juice, and then I take my chlorella and spirulina, and then I take my omega 3 oil supplement, blah, blah, and I was like, hon, you're not fasting, you're eating maintenance lol.- Re: Water Fasting But Not Losing Wei... This is a reply to # 2,093,790In one of the older fasting books there is a chart of some guy who started at 180 and stayed at 145 for like 6 days in a row even though he ate nothing. So this happens -- but it happened to him at a lower weight. Maybe you're just ripped? LOL - they write that the poorer the quality of the tissue you start with, the bigger the weight loss. Also, you pre-fasted, might have slowed your metabolism?

This is a reply to # 2,093,798Well according to the scales I'm currently at 188 so it appears I've started to go down. It's just rather startling considering it took almost 2 weeks to show improvement when previously it took less than 1.

This is a reply to # 2,093,540This thread is old, but I found it just now when searching Google, the advice you received from the one person is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. When Water Fasting your rate of burning energy goes up 10 percent during the fast, not down, Water Fasting will not lower your fat burning power. Some people don't know what the hell they are talking about. Water Fasting will not lower your metabolic rate.
OK I know there will be some smarty pants out there who will respond with something like "this person won't see the message, it's been eight years fool". Well think about my first statement, I found this when searching Google NOW. Others will too, this is for them.

This is a reply to # 2,093,531It's been my experience that weight loss can plateau for several days in a row, but your case is exceptional. It reminds me of yogis who can survive for very long times without eating anything at all. I think it is possible that the body can enter a state of hibernation. There is another explanation for your case, though. You may be burning calories but adding water. A gallon weighs eight pounds which could mask a week. Try drinking pure water only when thirsty. Or maybe the explanation is that your scale is wrong. Try a different scale.
