Hi,
I am an old Cure Zone user but haven't been active in the forums for a long while. I started NB recently and wanted to know if anyone could take a look and see if they agreed with my practitioner's diagnosis being that I'm copper toxic.
The labs show low, but the practitioner said the results, as well as my symptoms, point to copper toxicity.

This is a reply to # 2,143,026Depends who you talk to. Dr. Wilson beleives everyone is copper toxic while others do not make that claim. According to your testing zinc is relative high to copper so there is no copper toxicity. Copper plays a key role in immune health and is mobilized to help the production of immune cells. Oftentimes the reason for adrenal fatigue is due to immune activation of the adrenal axis to mobilize a defense against pathogens so removing copper makes no sense.
Copper toxicity is always a possibility but if there was then the value would show high in the hair. I knew someone who was having issues and the report showed high levels of copper which related to her symptomology. It was the only time I have seen high levels on a hair test.
Copper is a necessary element and is critical in a number of things in the body. There is a more accurate way of determining copper stores that can be done in the blood. The ratio of sodium to potassium would indicate adrenal stress, what is your practitioner doing to resolve this issue?
I would like to see the journal article or reference to show that low copper in the hair is indicative to copper toxicity.

This is a reply to # 2,143,615I have a friend who had a nutritionist tell her the same thing and bombed her with zinc to get the zinc/copper ratio higher - problem was that she did not have enough copper to begin with (low levels on the hair test) - she said it really messed her up.

This is a reply to # 2,143,697If it was me I would not try to chelate copper out. The client I had who had high levels of copper was schizophrenic and levels were quite high as the pdf document suggests. Read Dr. Watts' book available at Trace Elements Inc, he is well versed on copper metabolism. IMO he is the one of the best.

Learn about nutritional balancing at least before posting here. It really looks like you don't know the slightest thing about it. The person could have been excreting biounavailable copper - exactly what they needed. So if they listened to you they would be doing themselves harm.
This forum is for nutritional balancing. Not your own inept interpretations.

This is a reply to # 2,143,832My hair tests have shown high copper from the very first test so it's easy to see that I am high copper. However, I certainly believe that those with low or even "normal" copper numbers can have hidden copper toxicity. I personally have spent a lot of time reading Dr. Wilson's site, www.drlwilson.com and trust the Science behind all this. He and Dr. Paul Eck worked very closely together for many years. Do your own research and also be sure you ask your practitioner all your questions. He or she should be able to explain why they recommend the supplements that you should be on.
Be aware that NB is not mineral replacement but using minerals to bring up certain levels and lower others. Again, I refer you to Dr. Wilson's site. The information on hidden copper toxicity is very enlightening.
Also, once you are on the right supplements, some chelation will go on. We would all like to feel better right away, but we have to eliminate the bad stuff, and it can cause us to feel worse before we get well.

This is a reply to # 2,143,077While this old article (1983) has some accurate information in it, it's not the last word on copper toxicity. The labs used did seem to wash the hair prior to testing which ARL and TEI both avoid doing. Dr. Wilson says that will skew the results. Also, using drugs to chelate the copper is not something NB proposes due to pulling out other vital minerals. My zinc was quite low on the first test, and I would have hated to lose some of that due to chelation in the form they did it. It took me a long time to bring it up as it was.

what clinical experience do you have?
if the copper is in normal range then there is less reason to suspect it.
very high or very low numbers, combined with other abnormal ratios indicate copper problems.

This is a reply to # 2,143,711Please don't dissuade people from posting comments on this forum. This forum has been pretty good and everyone here so far is open to eachother's views. It's what I like about this forum. I want to read what people like Lineup have to say - knowledge is power and that comes with inviting different views on NB. NB is not perfect and if we all blindly thought it was, some of us wouldn't progress beyond NB. I am particulary interested in what Lineup has to say about copper as I've recently done another non hair analysis heavy metal test that shows my copper levels are within normal range. But at the same time I am interested in hearing your opposing views on Copper godhelp, as it is also an important issue and the corner stone of Dr Wilson's philosophy behind NB. Also copper is vital for those of us wth infections - We need copper to kill infection, so if we are depleting it unknowingly we need to know. In fact I'd love to see more discussions and different views on copper.
You must lso give us some credit, we are smart enough to work out that not everything is set in stone and that there is no right or wrong. NB like all treatments, is an ongoing and expanding treatment which can only be improved by questioning an aspect of it if it doesn't work for someone. And this is when new views as to why something doesn't work is most warranted and appreciated. And if someone has done some research on it, thank God for that and please share it! It broadens my knowledge and you guys have a lot of it to share, which is what we need here. I crave it. So pls keep'em coming but just be nice to eachother.
