This is everything that I am on and have been for about 2 months now and I feel absolutely exactly the same as I did before - no improvement - actually, most days my stomach feels awful:
Estradiol - 1 mg (one pill a day)
Paroxetine (Paxil) - 20mg (one pill a day)
B-Complex Plus Vitamin (one pill a day)
Niacin - 500mg (one pill a day)
Iodoral - 125mg right now - goal is 187mg (says my NP) - (4 pills a day - 2 50mg and 2 12.5mg)
D3 - 20,000 IU (4 pills a day)
Selenium - 200mcg (1 pill a day)
Vit C - chewable - 250mg - (one pill a day)
Magnesium Glycinate - 200mg - (2 pills a day at supper)
Parotid PMG - 358 mg - (2 pills a day) - suggested by my NP
Thytrophin PMG - 109mg - (3 pills a day) - suggested by my NP
Betaine Hydrochloride - 605mg - (2 pills per day) - suggested by my NP
Adrenal - 434mg - (5 pills a day) - suggested by my NP
This is INSANE!! I take 28 pills a day - I feel like a "junkie." I am going to stop taking the Betaine and Adrenal supplements - the adrenal is really upsetting my stomach I think - AND...my NP failed to let me know that when you take Betaine - you are suppose to eat AT LEAST 15 grams of protein with it - there are times that I am taking it on days I hardly eat any protein!!
I just don't know what to do anymore or where to turn - I find out so much more information on here than I do from my doctor or for that matter...my NP. I live in a small North Dakota town and we only have so many NP's to pick from - actually only a couple. I told my NP when she said that these were some of the supplements I should take (she prescribed the Parotid, Thytrophin, Betaine, and Adrenal) that I didn't want to take anything that was going to upset my stomach or my intestines (I have IBS and I don't want anything messing with that) and she said she completely understood, but absolutely NONE of these supplements would mess with my intestines - WRONG!! I have been having trouble again with upset so I looked up the side effects of some of these and one of the side effects of the Adrenal supplement is stomach upset (also...increased irrability, anxiety, restlessness, and sleep disturbance - which I have all had).

This is a reply to # 2,183,448Although I have no doubt you needed iodine, the fact your not feeling different is indication Iodine may not be your primary issue.
Couple things I notice, and I have probably mentioned before, you may not be getting nearly enough of the things you need. Some people require high doses of various B vits. 500mg niacin isnt bad but its not much, I take 3grams a day. A b complexe also may not be worth a damn, especially if it uses folic acid and cyanocobalamin as ingredients.
You D3 is pretty high, especially without any vit A and K in the mix. Your vit C dose is laughable, try taking >5 GRAMS a day. 200mg magnesium isnt much either. I also dont see any potassium are you getting over 5 grams a day from diet?
I would stop worrying about paying an NP and just use the moeny to go it alone. Try upping doses of supps one at a time for a few weeks to see if it helps. Then move on to the next.

actually, you live in a nightmare. i will try to go down your list.

aside from WHY you are taking hormones, there is no way you can know what you need until you get your iodine up to snuff. added iodine changes everyones hormone picture.
Paroxetine (Paxil) - 20mg (one pill a day)
a fluoridated brain drug. is that really what you want? and besides all that, coming off of that is dangerous. best to do it with a plan rather than cold turkey in an emergency. no, you dont need to stock up on them, you need to get rid of them for good.
B-Complex Plus Vitamin (one pill a day)
Niacin - 500mg (one pill a day)is the form niacinamide?

if you truly understood why you were taking iodine you would be taking a lot more and it wouldnt be in pill form.
D3 - 20,000 IU (4 pills a day)
D3 is a two-edged sword. if you need it, you uneed it. but remember that it decreases immune function. get out in the sun when possible and get you r D that way in the summer. at least that will give you a break from it.
Selenium - 200mcg (1 pill a day)
Vit C - chewable - 250mg - (one pill a day)vitamin C is a great detoxifier. you should be taking a few grams of it a day and not just a quarter of a gram.
Magnesium Glycinate - 200mg - (2 pills a day at supper)

This is a reply to # 2,183,489But...trapper...I just don't know where to turn...I feel awful and no one is helping me - I've tried my GYN doctor, I've tried an NP...I'm almost in tears every night because I just don't feel better - I sat on my couch again last night and cried - I can't wait much longer to start feeling better and Iodine seems to take forever.
Estradiol - I take because 3 or 4 years ago I had a TOTAL hysterectomy - ovaries and all - I had to have one because I was full of fibroid tumors - the largest one was almost 6 pounds. My GYN doctor said that because I was so young (46 at the time) - he didn't want me going into or having to deal with menopause at such a young age.
Paxil - to tell you the truth on Paxil - the main reason I take it is because I have IBS and it completely takes away all of the intestinal issues I have - when I don't take Paxil you can hear my intestines bubbling from across the room - sometimes they are so loud - they wake me up at night. This completely disappears with Paxil.
Iordoral - I have only been told by my NP to take Iordoral - I have never been told to take anything else (the pill form that is). Should I be taking the liquid form - Lugol's that I hear so many people taking on this forum - I don't know.
D3 - I live in North Dakota. I am kind of a sun worshiper in the summertime, but as everyone knows, our summers here are not very long and in the wintertime I don't get out in the sun.
My main issues are: no energy, and absolutely no sex drive!! And...when I say no sex drive - I mean NO sex drive. It not only affects me, but it affects my partner too. I can't wait 6-12 months for my sex drive to get better (crying again) - I just am so frustrated and depressed - I don't know what to do.- Re: OK...Seriously!!! trapper/kcmo

This is a reply to # 2,183,559you are treating symptoms with paxil. there is no help for that. it breaks my heart, but that wont help you either.
you have to decide if youre gonna trust doctors or trust yourself. read up and find out how best to taper off paxil,. that would be a good start.- Re: OK...Seriously!!! grizz

This is a reply to # 2,183,559A long long time ago I was soooo hyperthyroid (6 years) I didn't have a tsh and a dr. put me on paxil to help with anxiety and sleepless nights. Paxil will take your sex drive away and u will NOT be able have an orgasim for nothing!!! I didn't have any kind of knowledge about Iodine back then but I only was on that for 1 year!!! I weaned myself off. Where is your natural progest to go with the estrogen? This needs to be in balance with that until you get your Iodine up to par!- Re: OK...Seriously!!! Molly123

This is a reply to # 2,183,565Sissy - I get mixed signals from everyone - I asked my GYN doctor just a few weeks ago again about should I be doing the natural proges cream or something since I am only taking estrogen and nothing else since my hysterectomy. He said No - he said that since I had everything removed - I should only need estrogen. About 6 months ago or more - I told my NP that I was taking Estradiol and she had a fit that I wasn't doing the natural proges cream - she said I was getting too much of one and not the other. I mean seriously...who do you listen to???? One person tells me one thing...and the other person tells you exactly the opposite.
I have tried in the past to come off of Paxil - I don't really have a problem with it - I take it really slow, but whenever I try to get off of it - my IBS kicks into high gear - I absolutely can't take those symptoms - especially the angry, rolling, LOUD intestines.- Re: OK...Seriously!!! sissyk

This is a reply to # 2,183,572She is right! There is the book What Doctors don't tell yo about menopause by Dr. John R LEE get it! Iodine is good for lower estrogen in favor for the good estrogen estriol. High amounts of Iodine will in time bring up progesterone levels. I would do progest for a little while just 1/4 tsp a night until you have been on iodne for awhile and a good amount. This is where u need the advice of the experts on here! Some women may need a little estrogen when doing Iodine because iodine does lower it. Even the ones who are on estrogen may need a little more because of that. But I think with 12 mg or 15 mg of boron a day that estrogen may not be needed either. I am hoping it will give me a little estrogen boast and hormone balance

This is a reply to # 2,183,576Boron and Iodine balance hormones!! I don't want to be on estrogen because it is causing breast cancer. We get to much in the plastics are food comes in and in our meats etc. My sister is battling estrogn positive breast cancer

This is a reply to # 2,183,618Well Molly, as you said in your previous post that you had your operation 3-4 years ago and you were only 46 at that time, it means you are 49-50 now, so you are close to menopause anyway, right ?
As you say you go now through a tough time so why it should be worse ?
Pre-menopaused and early menopaused women suffer from a decrease of oestrogen and no (or almost no) progesterone.
Your problem is maybe even worse as with your oestrogen pill and absolutely no progesterone, you suffer from the predominance of oestrogene.

This is a reply to # 2,183,657Thank you so much - I did rub the cream on last night. It doesn't make me feel any different though, but I will keep using it. I thought that since I am taking the Estradiol - I wouldn't go into menopause - I thought that was the reason my GYN doctor put me on it.

This is a reply to # 2,183,572Like Sissyk, I think you need some progesterone to balance your oestrogene pill.
Progesterone has a generalized protective function: anti-oxidant, anti-toxin, anti-clot, anti-spasm, anti-cancer, pro-memory, pro-attention, pro-thyroid, pro-myelination...
Borage oil or primerose evening oil will help, vit. E helps with progesterone, zinc is also involved.
There are several progesterone-like plants alchemilla, salsepareilla, vitex agnus casta, milk thistle helps also.
How are you taking your pill, 14 days per month or non stop ?
