Okay guys,
I went back to the dermatologist for the first time since November, this time to the same office but a different doctor. Completely different experience where she answered all my questions in comparison to the first one who gave no fu**s and threw me on cortizone without asking 1 single question.
Anyway she gave me Mycolog II, which is a Nystatic ointment/cream that is an antifungal steroid. Its prescribed for use no longer than 10 days and it worked after 3. The cracks in my lips filled up and I'm 100℅ sure that was the problem. I can't see EC coming back because I don't have thrush in my mouth and my system is clean from diet and exercise.
My lips looked exactly like MontrealHomegrown's in the gallery. Plasta cheilitis is caused by fungus on the lips and is perpetuated by biting and licking which opens wounds in the lips for the fungus to get into. This makes total sense as its common in smokers.
I tried a lot of topical remedies, calendula, aquaphor, cortisone and none of them worked. I wish I came upon this possibility before.
If it comes back I will be the first to let you guys know.

This is a reply to # 2,194,932I assume plasta cheilitis is the same thing as plasma cell cheiltiis? It's a great find of a new term because it brings up more articles. This article states,
"Plasma cell cheilitis is a rare condition of having redness and swelling of the lips. The cause behind plasma cell cheilitis may be hypersensitivity reactions to some antigen like toothpastes, chewing gum, mints, pepper etc. It is seen that Preventing exposure to the causative antigen leads to remission." So, I wonder if this is triggered by an allergy in addition to the skin becoming infected with yeast.
It also mentions treatment for staph infections on the lips, which are fusidic acid, neomycin, mupirocin, metronidazole and chlorhexidine creams. I didn't know there was a chlorhexidine cream.

This article explains it well and summarizes what I though was EC and now I think we can start looking at the causes of many different types of cheilitis of people use deductive reasoning as to what caused it in the first place. Maybe Exfoliative Cheilitis is just an umbrella term for more sub categories of cheilitis.

This is a reply to # 2,194,932The doctor said I shouldnt have to use it again. In October of last year after I had EC I was prescribed mycelex which is an anti oral thrush tab to suck on. Also I was drinking apple cider vinegar and following a simple diet including cruciferous vegetables and brown rice with fruit and salmon with the occasional baked chicken.
So I'm sure I'm clean on the inside. The ointment is topical so just the outside of the mouth is cured. I used it for ten days no burning or anything. Just wake up everyday with lips feeling smoother than the day before.

This is a reply to # 2,194,976Some other treatments might be better if you get bacteria infections from EC, but I think I get candida infections instead. I think Im going to give this a try. My dentist actually had an extremely rare inflammatory condition similar to our and said that the only thing that helped her was something similar to this.

This is a reply to # 2,194,909That's interesting - looks like its a combo of nystatin and trimcinclone which have both been used by people with some success - maybe the combo will work

This is a reply to # 2,195,103lets at least wait and see what happens once treatment is stopped and give it a couple of weeks to see if ec returns or not... also i wouldnt see why you couldnt use this as a longterm treatment? does it completely stop the white build up also on the inner part of the lips??? thanks in advance..
also ec parent your son is seeing some improvenments with anti-histamines what exact oral tablet is he trying and have you thought of a ointment with anti-histamines if he is seeing good results orally??? thanks in advance- Re: Plasta Cheilitis! longterm

This is a reply to # 2,195,377A naturopathic doctor recently posted here that warm water mixed with vinegar acts as an antihistamine. I know some people have seen improvement by applying apple cider vinegar mixed with water to lips. I wonder if it's more of an anti-histamine or anti-fungal effect.

This is a reply to # 2,195,381I remember putting ACV on my lips as one of my first things to try and get rid of this. It burned my lips very badly to the point where the dead skin was really white.
If you remember ACV is used in a candida diet so it is an anti-fungal. So using that example I can conclude that my lips had a fungal/candida infection.

This is a reply to # 2,195,377If used as a longterm treatment the steroid would cause thinning of the lip skin just like cortisone would. To have this cleared you'd have to make sure there is no candida in your throat, mouth, or on the lips.

You said you also sucked on a Mycelex to get rid of oral thrush. So, one might need to suck on the oral thrush tablet in addition to applying the ointment. You also drank apple cider vinegar, which may play a factor in eliminating candida faster.
Did you dilute the apple cider vinegar in water before you applied it on your lips? I think others who tried it diluted it in water so it didn't sting.- Re: Plasta Cheilitis! crustylip

This is a reply to # 2,195,397Yeah I take probiotics as well. I didn't dilute the apple cider vinegar. I just put it on a washcloth and left it on for 20 mins. Would it have had an effect on my lips if I didn't have a candida infection on them?
I also remember drinking alcohol heavily one night about a month ago. My first time drinking in 8 months. And my lips got hard and crusted so that is why I thought it was strictly a skin problem. Even if I had been eating clean and exercising, I had not seen improvement.
Now in Daniel Miller's case I want to know if he did any diet changes or just did the leave it alone method and his body healed itself without a Water Fast or liver flush.- Re: Plasta Cheilitis! longterm

This is a reply to # 2,195,406I don't know if the apple cider vinegar would have an effect if you didn't have a candida infection. If you had an allergy to something, it might decrease histamine.
I know that Daniel started eating salmon fish (omega 3), drinking water, and eating healthier on a regular basis.- Re: Plasta Cheilitis! Healing2021

Would you mind posting a picture of what your lips looked like before?
When I look up Plasma cheilitis the pictures that come up are a bit different than EC. They don't have the crusts and look more indented, but are clearly inflamed.
I am wondering whether your lips looked like this, or looks like the usual EC lips with the crusty buildup.
This will be an important distinction.
