I started taking diatomaceous earth and I read that it chelates metals. I am wondering if there is any truth to this and if it chelates metals whats the half life?
I dont really want to use anything other than dmsa or ala for chelating metals.
I really like that diatomaceous earth kills parasites and thas what I want it for.

This is a reply to # 2,196,299It is definitely safe to use food-grade DE. I use it daily to chelate heavy metals. I use it for candida, parasites, and as a minerals source. I sometimes use it as a face mask or to whiten my teeth. Also great for bedbug infestation. It is extremely useful for many applications.

If you don't want Redistribution of Chelating Heavy Metals after Taking DE, then you need to remove the Heavy Metals from the Body.
Take Chlorella and Spirulina with the DE. Chlorella & Spirulina (Cracked Shell Chlorella is Best) Binds to Heavy Metals and they'll be removed via intestines.- Re: Diatomaceous earth and chelation... joegrane

This is a reply to # 2,457,096Since you posted to the Cutler Protocol forum I'll add that Cutler disagreed with you about the value of Chlorella and Spirulina for heavy metal detox.
The cysteine in them has one thiol/SH/mercury-magnet in it.

In contrast the chelators in Cutler protocol have two SH groups to better hold onto HMs. This is DHLA.

Even then Cutler strongly warned people to take small doses of chealtors and take them frequently enough so HM mobilized by one dose will more likely be mopped up by chelator and other antioxidants from the next dose. The other protective antioxidants he recommended were vitamin C, E, maybe selenium, lutein, lycopene, etc
Much more could be said. While safely removing HMs can have a wonderful effect on health, kicking up HMs is not without risks. Do your homework. Be careful. Don't overwhelm your antioxidant defenses.
