Hi. I'm new on this forum. I've been chelating for almost 10 months now. Still on the same dose as when I started. 12.5 mg. ala/dmsa.
My first 2-3 months were really good. Then it stopped a bit, and since mid. September it's been going backwards.
I feel like crap, especially in the morning. I wake up feeling shaky and cold inside, and often end up dry heaving. Then I feel stressed out, almost panic for some hours. A valium helps.
This is something that usually happens after some stress related event. Anything from beeing sick, not sleeping well, or even to much positive stress. I've had this problem on and off since late 2001.
I removed my fillings in the summer of 2011, and went trough the dump phase March-May 2012.
Is this my second dump/stall phase?
Is there any supplements that could help?
I do take supplements, but I feel that if I increase them, I get worse.
I've been trough this problem before, and it's allways stress related. Last year a stomach flu set me back for over 3 months.
When I was working, changing from night to dayshift to fast, would do the same.
So I need some advice.
Should I take a break from chelating?
Should I lower the dose?

This is a reply to # 2,283,673Cutler says it is quite common for an Hg toxic person to get a few months of gains and then the "stall period". You might not get any gains for 4-6 months or you might even have some modest setbacks, especially if the person is not chelating correctly--cf p 52 in his Amalgam illness book.
Make sure you are getting enough antioxidants--Vit C, E, maybe selenium. We've heard a variety of strange reports from those who were only taking skimpy amounts.
Cutler says the most common mistake made by those using is protocol is to ignore adrenal support. Your symptoms seem consistent with this.
Have you ever tried, pregnenolone--maybe 10mg x2--and adrenal cortex glandular?
Some people end up getting a 4x saliva cortisol

Some think it is a good idea to take a little break occasionally to allow some extra time to heal. You probably would benefit from a break if you are not supporting your adrenals. I include extra omega 3s and phospholipids during this time.
More than a few people with an Hg problem also benefit from thyroid support. Cutler indicates TSH test alone is not adequate for an Hg toxic person. At least include Free T3. Selenium seems to be the key supplement for supporting thyroid in a toxic person--more on that if requested.

I've actually cut down on some of my supplements, because I feel I'm getting worse when I take to much.
I do know that my adrenals work, but maybe they don't work good enough.
The strange thing, is this happens after a stressfull event. Last year I got stomach flu, and 14 days after that, I got the same problems. It's like a delayed reaction, and sometimes it goes on for 2-3 months.- Re: Dump stall phase. joegrane

That is as expected. In the decade before I learned about adrenal insufficiency I would often catch a cold in the days after the band I was in had a major concert.
Most mammals make vitamin C. Humans, maybe due to an early genetic defect, cannot. We must consume it. I've heard that at least some other mammals make much more vitamin C in times of sickness or stress.
There is much vitamin C in the adrenal gland. I wonder if it provides oxidative protection for the gland.
You might learn more about cortisol, one of the adrenal cortex hormones.

I allready know about the adrenals, and cortisol. They do work according to the saliva tests. But maybe some other hormones are out of whack?
I've been taking vitamine c, but I've cut back. I've actually cut back on different supplements, because I feel better without.
I've had this problem since 2001. Got my fillings out in 2011. Had my first dump phase spring 2012.
Started chelation January this year, and belive that either I'm going trough a second dump/stall, or I've been chelating to hard.

Your situation is unusual, especially the degree of the symptoms at your stage of the process. You might check out the bigger Yahoo detox groups where someone might have experienced what you are describing.

If a person is not taking generous amounts of antioxidants--Vit C & E--during round and half day after a variety of strange symptoms could occur.
I've noticed if I forget my vitamin E my head feels very strange and I can get nauseous.

By any chance were you experiencing the symptoms on the day of the test? If you were feeling fine and you had not been under stress, maybe your adrenals are not very weak but just vulnerable to very stressful periods.
Do you get enough electrolytes--sodium, magnesium, maybe potassium?
Any chance there is still Amalgam remaining, maybe just a spec or two or Amalgam under a crown? Cutler and Dr Pompa discuss strange symptoms that can occur when people chelate with Amalgam still present.

I would not worry about those doses. I was on 12-20mg DMSA + 8-12mg ALA for my first 1.75 years and got life changing gains. Some people are quite sensitive to kicking up heavy metals. Cutler says when we double the dose we don't double the excretion. It only increases by around 33% not the 100% one would expect. There is no reason to beat oneself up to push the process a little faster.

That's what I belive could be the problem.
I've had these problems since long before I started chelation, and before I got rid of my fillings.
I know it's stress related. So I was wondering if chelating can cause stress. That would make sence.
Maybe the dose is not so high, but if I'm very toxic, or if I'm a slow excreter, could that lead to this stress related problems?- Re: Dump stall phase. joegrane
