Hi,
Thanks to this forum, i found out that my problem is called balanitis candida and it is an infection of the genitals area, especially for me.
I have been trying to deal with it for 5 months but it is still there. Now I am trying to rotate the antifungals to see if it improves.
I have been following a very strict candida diet and i lost 8 kilos! I don't have any other candida symptoms, maybe only very dry mouth.
Does anyone have this problem or solve it? Any ideas?

1. BALANITIS
1.1. Introduction
Balanitis is defined as inflammation of the glans penis. The condition often involves the prepuce and the term balano-posthitis should be used.
1.2. Aetiology
According to the different aetiology, balanitis can be classified into various clinical varieties:
1.2.1. Infective
This is the commonest cause of balanitis.
1) Candidal balanitis
Candidal balanitis most frequently follows intercourse with an infected sexual partner. However, infection may occur without sexual contact, usually in diabetic patients or patients taking oral Antibiotics . The pathogenicity of the yeast depends on the host factors. There is no significant difference between carriage rate in circumcised and uncircumcised male although the chance of symptomatic infection is higher in the uncircumcised men.
The clinical features include a non-purulent surface, a slightly scaling edge and eroded satellite pustules. The groins may also be affected. Microscopy and culture confirm the diagnosis and should be taken from both partners and from the anal as well as the genital areas.
Recurrent candidal balanitis causes fissuring of the prepuce, with fibrosis and sclerosis.

Diflucan doesn't help for aspergillus infection - drug resistant
Do not use Lamisil - check for diabetes

The treatment of balanitis depends on the specific cause, which can vary from case to case.
- Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, while
- topical antifungals such as clotrimazole can combat balanitis caused by Candida.
If an allergic reaction is causing symptoms, the goal is to identify the chemical agent responsible. Ointments or creams may be used to ease skin irritation.
No matter what the cause, it is important to thoroughly clean the penis on a daily basis in order to alleviate symptoms. If the condition keeps occurring, or if the inflammation is interfering with urination, circumcision may be advised.
Alternative treatment
According to practitioners of alternative medicine, certain herbs may be effective in controlling or preventing yeast infections--a common cause of balanitis. These remedies include garlic, calendula, and goldenseal. Eating yogurt that contains acidophilus may also help to clear up a Candida infection.

Balanitis is a descriptive term covering a variety of unrelated conditions, the appearances of which may be pathognomonic.
The following investigations (refer to original guideline document for a flow chart for management of non specific balanitis) are intended to aid diagnosis in cases of uncertainty.
Sub-preputial swab for Candida and bacterial culture: should be undertaken in most cases to exclude an infective cause or superinfection of a skin lesion.
Urinalysis for glucose: appropriate in most cases but especially if candidal infection is suspected.
Culture for Herpes simplex: if ulceration/fissures present.
Dark ground examination for spirochaetes and Syphilis serology: if an ulcer is present.
Culture for Trichomonas vaginalis: particularly if a female partner has an undiagnosed vaginal discharge.
Screening for other sexually transmitted infections: particularly screening for Chlamydia trachomatis infection/non specific urethritis if a circinate-type balanitis is present.
Biopsy: if the diagnosis is uncertain and the condition persists. (Arumainayagam & Sumathipala, 1990; Hillman et al., 1992)

This is a reply to # 282,290hi dangas, i have been suffering for about a year and a half now of simialar symptoms as you and have not found any real relief.I have had several dx's including interstitial cycstitis, prostatitis and took abx for almost a year i was even on elmaron and heprin injections i also tryed over the counter anti fungals which you may want to try it did not work for me but i have read about alot of people it has helped.what symptoms are you having exactly if you dont mind me asking??

I have itching in my testicles and at the top of my penis. The skin is reddish. Sometime i have a tingling sensations.
The most effective antifungal that i have used is oregano oil.
today i am really confused. I have just received the results of my candida blood test and it is negative. I have been told that it could be genital herpes too. I will test herpse now. But my itching is related to the food that i eat, that why i believe is candida.

What blood test did you take and where - blood culture takes 6 weeks.
You may want to try with a provocation test with Candida antigen to see if you develop a Type IV delayed reaction.

I have had a problem similar to yours, in my genitals and went to 10 doctors and everyone said there was nothing wrong with me. They gave me creams and ointments but nothing worked. Until I found a homeopathic doctor that hooked me to this machine and said I had candida, it was rash in my testicles and then developed a rash in my penis glans and it got swollen, I am better now but I still feel discomfort in my glans, like it is swollen a little bit, after sex or masturbation it gets worse. I also very dry mouth mostly at night. I have had this problem for 5 months also. I have been on a candida diet no Sugar and have lost several pounds too. (by the way my doctor recommended AGAVE NECTAR instead of SPLENDA OR OTHER Sugar SUBSTITUTES, it is a syrup from cactus so it is natural and people with diabetes can have this, it tastes very good and you can use it for baked apples or pancakes, I use KAMUT instead of the normal pancake flour. I can really feel with you. I had the same problem the last 10 months. My doctor was totally clueless with the issue. He had a look at my penis, noted that the foreskin was red, however said that still looks normal and no action was necessary.
That was after I told him that it hurts....
I spent hours on the internet searching for a solution and for tipps from other men At the end I found the following page:

I guess I have to pay for my unhealty lifestyle now, however the good thing is, I already see progress and feel better.

This is a reply to # 282,290ok guys, stop the candida diet and all the creams and medications. I discovered the cure to this the hard way. After a year of trying everything in the book and seeing multiple dermatologist, I decided to try something counterintuitive. DO NOTHING. NO WATER, NO SOAP, NO CREAMS, NO MEDICATION, NO MASTURBATION, NO SEX. I kept the skin slightly retracted at all times so Urin wouldn't get underneath foreskin. I poured a glass of purified water over the penis in the morning and gently patted dry. 1 week later, the redness was gone. 1 month later, the skin completely back to normal.
