I am cruising along nicely on my new Candida diet after spending the past few months in and out of hospitals trying to find the cause of my weakness, adrenal exhaustion, and sick every time I ate bread or wheat products etc. I ate Sushi about 6 weeks ago and was very sick the next day but learnt the soy sauce had wheat in it. Yesterday I had Sushi again (mini cucumber rolls and salmon rolls), today I am soooo sick and have brain fog plus used my bowels about 5 times (last time was floating stools). My cousin (who is celiac) said that the vinegar in the Sushi is probably what made me sick. This is a reply to # 284,177The rice in your sushi is spritzed with vinegar as a matter of practice. Vinegar is created through a mold process. Can the small amount of vinegar in the rice cause such bad side effects as I had today like lethargy, nausea, diarrhoea and mind fog? I have experienced this when I ate bread etc but surprised to get such a bad reaction from some vinegar in Sushi. The only other thing I have eaten out of the ordinary was Spirulina powder in a vege juice I made for breakfast.

This is a reply to # 284,190I was given a different rationale by my doctor. Vinegar can keep in your cupboard forever. It doesn't spoil. It won't, because it has antibacterial properties so bacteria just can't spoil it.
It does the same thing in your gut. It kills off the precious "good bacteria" we work hard at re-establishing and spend our money purchasing when we have a problem with candida. You can expect candida to be very happy and make gains when you kill off it's competition like that.
Alien, if that's all it took for you to feel those effects, it sounds like you may have an overload of toxins in your system. Just seems like it doesn't take much more before your body really feels it.

It seems that maybe it was the Spirulina that made me start some die-off or the Spirulina alone could have given me diarrhea (re: Shelleycats response to another post). I have Apple Cider Vinegar with no reaction so I was shocked when I thought that a small amount in Sushi could be to blame. I do have toxins in my body but I am not super sensitive to anything like perfumes or chemicals. I do however notice a big decline in health if I have anything with wheat/yeast in it. When I get stronger (I am recovering from adrenal exhaustion) I am going to start a liver cleanse and continue colonic irrigation (has one session was on my back all day sick). I am on a strict Candida. Celiac diet right now, been on it about 6 weeks and getting very good results and no longer need hospitalization YAY. I a going to hang low and keep away from Spirulina till after Xmas and try Sushi again after Xmas (on different days). I am going to try P&B shakes also after Xmas.

It does sound like a lot of toxins, and sounds like you've got a plan in place. I wonder whether those P&B shakes may help you, they were a huge turning point for me. Sure hope so!

This is a reply to # 284,286THANX for the well wishes of luck! I am going to start on the P&B shakes very soon when I feel my adrenals are back 100% so I have the energy for any adverse reaction I may get with loose bowels or constipation etc. I am going to do a liver cleanse and go back to the colonics too. I just needed to take it easy over Xmas and enjoy being with my family without them having a pink fit because I look drained while detoxing. I had to stop the Spirulina and probiotics as it gave me 'butt pee' so bad and made me feel nauseas. I will start those again soon also. I will post how I go.

vinegar will kill any bad microbes/yeast it comes into contact with. I too sometimes get a sore throat when I have too much.
As for allergies, vinegar is often prescribed to people with allergies to use as a 100% non-allergenic household cleaning agent.

This is a reply to # 284,190Abraham, my bad. I was typing late and typed the wrong term. I meant to say there was a yeast issue with vinegar, and that I got from a handout at the allergist's office a few months back. It listed things to avoid if I registered high on the mold allergies.....which I did, of course.
I myself would have throat swelling and gland swelling and pain after just one tablespoon of vinegar, but that was before I changed my diet and added supplements about 6 weeks ago. Since then I have noticed a significant decrease in my allergies to chemicals, and might also now not register so sensitive to vinegar, but I'm not willing to test that theory out just yet. I have plenty of other things I can eat and enjoy, and I am still using vinegar for my cleaning purposes. When I feel stronger, I'll give it a whirl, again.
